The 11 Most Frustrating and Ridiculous Plot Holes in Anime

Ridiculous and unexplained events are so common in anime that terms have been coined to appropriately describe them. (A great example would be "Ass Pull," which Urban Dictionary explains is basically when a character just suddenly remembers or figures out a never-before-seen super power that perfectly defeats the enemies in just the nick of time.)

While not every plot hole and unexpected shift are super easy to notice and acknowledge they are so common that once you start seeing a few, you suddenly find yourself unable to un-see any at all and you notice ALL of them in all their infinite stupidity or frustration.

1. Gundam SEED

In the epic deathmatch between Kira and Athrun we see Athrun grapple Kira's unit and use a self-destruct blast and apparently the reason why Kira miraculously survived is because the blast door sealed the cockpit yet when his damaged unit is inspected, we see that the cockpit was melted beyond salvage. So, uh, what's up with that?

2. Girls und Panzer

Why don't tanks explode? Other things do and thgese tanks are definitely real, so what's up with that?

3. Bleach

Bleach may as well be one giant ass pull but the biggest of them all appears to be Ichigo's entire life and how it may have been manipulated by Aizen as a master plan, but also that we have no clue.

4. Naruto

When Sasuke and Deidara really duke it out in a lengthy, drawn out fight, Deidra goes all out and uses a self-destruct move that should have killed Sasuke.... except it didn't because despite the fact that Sasuke should have been completely drained of chakra, he somehow summoned and mind-controlled a giant snake into protecting him from the blast.

5. The Ambition of Oda Nobuna

Most isekai anime at least try to explain why characters time travel but not this one. Sagara's time travel to the past is a mystery that we just kind of have to accept...

6. Fairy Tale

Apparently the power of friendship can overcome anything. Are we watching a pumped up MLP or what?

7. Death Note

My favorite on this list: the fake Death Note. The first time you ever watched Death Note you know damn well that finding out about the fake Death Note switcharoo was a massive "WTF" moment because either Near didn't get enough credit or Light got too much credit.

8. Dragon Ball Z

In his quest to kill Goku, Dr. Gero creates Androids 17 & 18 but Gero shuts them down and puts them into stasis because he fears that their infinite energy supply will make them too powerful and lead to a rebellion. Later when Gero turns himself into a cyborg he uses the inferior energy absorption body design on himself...?

9. Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple

The only supernatural power in the entire series is Shigure's ability to control her enemy's weapons through telekinesis and it's literally never explained.

10. The Familiar of Zero

Surprise fake spells! The second season ends as we are devastated when we see professor Jean Colbert die. The joke was on us though because Jean is alive and well at the beginning of season 3 and we learn that Jean was hit with a fake death spell... for no reason. OK.

11. Kill la Kill

Senketsu appears to be the only character that can transform into multiple forms and levels up many times while all others can only transform into one stronger form. Nobody ever questions this for some reason.
