Now that we're at the beginning of 2017 we can finally fully reflect on all 2016 had to offer us and today the best anime of the year is no exception! If you've lost track of anything this year don't feel bad, it was a chaotic year for most of us! Here's your chance to get grounded again and reflect on some of the greatness the year had to offer us in the form of Anime.

1. Akagami no Shirayuki-hime (Snow White with the Red Hair)

The second season of this romantic shoujo saga was definitely a huge improvement from last season. Cram packed with adventure, this series includes a super badass lead heroine for us to adore.

2. Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans

The second season of this mecha anime is cram packed with phenomenal character development and thrilling action sequences and begs the question: why isn't mecha anime as popular as it used to be? It's clearly really good.

3. ReLIFE

This thrilling story captures our imagination with a dysfunctional character who is offered a pill that will drastically improve his life. He dives in head first and we can't get enough.

4. Magi: Sinbad no Bouken

If you haven't been involved in all things Sinbad then make sure you catch up before enjoying this prologue. Once you're caught up, this is a very satisfying series to watch.

5. Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan (TV) (The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.)

The lead character in this "wacky" story is a psychic with some insane abilities that leads us through a lot of random yet well received humor and is definitely a wild ride. In fact, this may very well be the most acclaimed 'short' anime series ever despite each of the 120 episodes being only 5 minutes long. If you haven't seen it, you definitely need to.

6. Boku no Hero Academia (My Hero Academia)

This anime has an incredible ability to blend the style and story of eastern media with the superhero themes of the west and they do it flawlessly. This anime really made it's name known in 2016.

7. Season 2: Bungou Stray Dogs

This well done thriller keeps us foaming at the mouth for more in Season 2.

8. Hibike! Euphonium 2 (Sound! Euphonium 2)

The first season was phenomenal and the second season lives up to the hype. This story is not of the typical variety but it really sucked us in this year. The fascinating story of students in a high school brass band is only emphasized and enhanced by the exquisite animation that presents it.

9. Mob Psycho 100

Brought to us from the creator of One Punch Man, this supernatural series really delivers with characters that possess incredible psychic abilities and is definitely very visually stimulating to enjoy.

10. Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu (Showa and Genroku Era Lover's Suicide Through Rakugo)

Don't call yourself a true anime fan if you're not going to (or haven't already) watched this amazing story. This series is most definitely one of the most original of 2016 and impossible not to get completely engrossed in.

11. Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu (Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-)

This well-done and thought provoking story about a really unlucky guy transported into a mysterious world and his encounters with the adorable heroine is a must watch from 2016.

12. Boku dake ga Inai Machi (ERASED)

This anime's main character is a manga artist who travels back in time determined to solve the murder of a former classmate and perfectly delves into the complications of loss and tragedy via the human experience.

13. Natsume Yuujinchou Go (Natsume's Book of Friends Season 5)

Taking a step away from the intense year we've had, this whimsical anime is lighthearted and just what you need to invoke those happy nostalgia feelings.

14. JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken: Diamond wa Kudakenai (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable)

Artistically impressive, this artistic story is one wild ride of an adventure and absolutely worthy of your time.

15. 2nd season of Ansatsu Kyoushitsu (Assassination Classroom)

I mean what wouldn't be enjoyable about an assassination classroom in the first place? Season 2 delivers just as well as season 1 did.

16. Haikyuu!!: Karasuno Koukou VS Shiratorizawa Gakuen Koukou

Despite some ups AND downs, this nails it for the best anime of 2016. Down into Season 3, this series really drags you in emotionally to the excitement and thrills the characters go through.
