Illustrator Shows Us What Classic Disney Movies Would Look Like If They Were Created in 2017
Tom Ward recreates Disney images in a dismal way that reflects our modern world.

Since Disney characters were first brought into the magical world of kid's minds in the 1900's, the world has changed immensely. There are so many differences in lifestyles, families, and the environment that the world in classic Disney is no longer so relevant to the children of today. There are also so many problems in our society that people are faced with daily, and a lot of these are due to the evolving state of the world and how we grow with technology and the ever-changing world around us. A UK artist had the brilliant idea to revamp some classic Disney movies into what they would look like if they were created in 2017. Tom Ward sheds a light onto the not-so-magical state of modern day issues through these awesome childhood films.
Unhappy Animals
The animals that we know and love are trapped in a circus act. Shere Khan, Simba, and Tigger are pictured looking sad as they are taken out of their habitats in order to provide entertainment to humans.

Gas leaks and deformities.
The sea is not as pure as it used to be, with humans polluting when and how they like, we have lost some of the beauties of the ocean. Gas leaks and trash affect the health of birds and sea life, as we can clearly see Ariel's deformities here.

Locked out or locked in...
So many households are investing in security systems to help keep the crime out - which really shouldn't be the case. Poor Peter Pan can't get to his beloved Wendy bird and is caught in the act through the peering security camera.

Phone is the focus and there is no time for fulfilling a goal.
Many of us are guilty of keeping our heads down on our phones instead of thriving for our dreams and goals. Arthur loses sight of his goal to remove the sword - or doesn't even try in this case. Little does he know that if he removed his focus from his phone to his destiny, he would become a great king. Wasted youth.

Eat me, drink me, or follow societies unrealistic goals and starve yourself.
So many girls are forced to change their diets and live their lives trying to be skinny and rid themselves of all body fat - which is unrealistic and deathly unhealthy. Tom Ward portrays the struggle of deciding to eat or not through Alice and her disheartened look.

Relationships run by technology.
Cinderella and her Prince Charming are not spending quality time together because he is too busy stuck in his online world - perhaps it is another princess he is talking to through the screen?

Pinocchio's Selfie Stick
Whoever said his nose was good for nothing? Pinocchio takes a selfie with his creator without needing anyone behind the camera to take it.

Gender roles
In 2017 gender roles still aren't quite equal. Jasmine having to clean the house while the men relax and play video games is definitely not quite the happy ending with Aladdin that she imagined. Also, doesn't Genie float?

Robin Hood turns the tables.
Robin Hood transforms into a fox and turns his arrows to the hunters for once.

Baloo all locked up.
Humans have a tendency to exert control over animals and keep them away from the lives they are intended to live. Mowgli is attempted to set his best bud free after he was unfairly captured by humans and locked away from his freedom.

Little Dumbo tries to stop the humans using elephant tusks for their own pleasure.
Dumbo shows a powerful message to humans as he burns the Ivory that humans have taken from his elders.

Free to express themselves!
Luckily this happy pair doesn't have to hide their sexuality anymore - something good has come out of 2017 as we embrace freedom and diversity.
