How 30 Different Celebs Reacted To The Leaked Supreme Court Roe V. Wade Opinion
People all over the United States are reaction to the leaked draft opinion written by Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito that could potentially strike down Roe v. Wade
In the wake of the news of a drafted opinion written by Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito that could potentially strike down the 1973 landmark case, Roe v. Wade that allows a person's right to an abortion, people all over the United States have reacted strongly. The leaked document was released by Politico and is said to be a first draft of the high court's opinion on the polarizing case.
Politicians, celebrities, and those without a national platform alike have taken to social media and the streets to have their voices heard. There have been nationwide marches and protests against the impending threat of a fundamental human right to healthcare being stripped away.
President Joe Biden quickly issued a formal statement in response to the potential decision, in which he detailed his administration's plans. "We do not know whether this draft is genuine, or whether it reflects the final decision of the Court," his statement read. "With that critical caveat, I want to be clear on three points about the cases before the Supreme Court . . . I believe that a woman's right to choose is fundamental, Roe has been the law of the land for almost fifty years, and basic fairness and the stability of our law demand that it not be overturned."
This statement included that his Gender Policy Council and White House Counsel's Office have been preparing "options for an Administration response to the continued attack on abortion and reproductive right."
President Biden concluded his statement by saying, "If the Court does overturn Roe, it will fall on our nation's elected officials at all levels of government to protect a woman's right to choose. And it will fall on voters to elect pro-choice officials this November. At the federal level, we will need more pro-choice Senators and a pro-choice majority in the House to adopt legislation that codifies Roe, which I will work to pass and sign into law."

The star addressed the SCOTUS's draft during her acceptance speech as an honoree at Variety's Power of Women ceremony.
There's a group of people who are trying to steal our power. Our power to decide what we want for our lives, our families, our future. My whole life, people have been trying to diminish my power. They've always tried to diminish the power of the woman. It's like what I tell my friends who don't want to vote sometimes. If the vote wasn't worth something, they wouldn't be trying to keep us from voting. I feel the same way about womanhood. If we weren't so powerful, there wouldn't be such a push to keep us in our place.Latifah also called for people to band together during this time of uncertainty.
I know what it looks like when women don't get along. When we fight against each other. But I also know what it looks like when we do. When we stand together, there's nothing more potent. There's nothing stronger. There's no level higher, nothing greater, than when we lock arms and decide we want to do something.

This of course applies to people of all genders who can become pregnant. But because for almost all of history we have looked at this as a woman's issue only, we have treated it with the same disregard, nay hatred as all women's issues. Because the patriarchy hates women, because they fear women . . . I'm so sorry. I'm so disgusted. We have time to turn this around. But we need to get motivated politically. tenor
Needless to say, there are very strong feelings about this ruling, both in favor and against. Everyone has their very own personal reasons behind their opinions and there's no reason a respectful discussion cannot be had about them.
Regardless of how you feel about abortion, it is something that should be addressed strictly between the person seeking one and their provider. A government should not be so far-reaching that it controls any person's autonomy.
Simply put, if you do not support abortion, you do not have to have one.
