31 Unhappily Ever After Disney Illustrations That Show How Characters Would Do If They Lived In The Real World
“As all of them do not particularly have extremely distinct facial features, it is often more about getting a sense of their personality across.” - Jeff Hong
Have you ever wished for a happily ever after? Is it because you've seen how Disney movies always portray them as so easily achieved?
The phrase 'happily ever after' has been heavily associated with Disney by both kids and adults. The idea of having no more troubles and living your dream is possible, but oftentimes it feels far-fetched.
If you think about it, would the characters in fairy tales and cartoons even have a happy ending if they were living in the same reality as you? Or would they face very dark times?
For years, people have tried to imagine themselves in their shoes, but things might not go as planned if it were the opposite. An artist named Jeff Hong has had clear perceptions of what these characters would face in present times and has illustrated them.
Hong chose different characters and placed them in situations that people face daily or troubles that exist in this world. It's a little grim, as we've always seen them in a prim and polished world, but it would make you reassess expectations for yourself.
The artist aptly named the exhibition 'Unhappily Ever After' and shared it online. Here, you'll see what these characters might become if they're taken out of the Disney context.
