This Marvel Fan Art Is Genuinely Impressive

We can always appreciate some Marvel fan art, especially when it features Loki.

Whether or not one is a dedicated Disney nerd can often be irrelevant when it comes to being a huge fan of Marvel. Marvel has existed independently of Disney for quite a long time, but that doesn't mean what Disney has created while owning Marvel isn't totally phenomenal. As noted by Dr. Shawn Achor, positive psychology researcher, "Happiness is not just the absence of negative emotion; it’s the presence of positive emotion." Many Disney fans are also Marvel fans, and surely that has a lot to do with the diverse characters who have rich stories and relatable, human experiences. Marvel is truly a universe of incredible storytelling. Serena is an Italian artist who is undoubtedly a huge fan of Marvel, especially Loki, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and Bucky Barnes. She's also a big fan of Supernatural, Star Wars, The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, and Pirates of the Caribbean. She has completed hundreds of commissioned pieces of work, often for people who share similar fandom tastes, and is currently working on her own webcomic. She's definitely an artist you'd want to keep an eye on, particularly if you're a fan of Marvel fan art! As an example, we've browsed her galleries and selected some seriously awesome pieces for you to admire. Check them out!

When it comes to Marvel's relationship with the character Loki, you'd be hard-pressed not to call it interesting. Some version of the character first appeared in the Marvel universe in August of 1964 in Venus, a romance comic (if you didn't know, Marvel had quite a run with romance comics for a while... now you know!)

The version of Marvel's Loki we know and love first appeared in October of 1962 in Journey into Mystery #85. In 2009, Loki was ranked as IGN's eighth-greatest comic book villain of all time and again featured in IGN's list as the fourth-greatest comic book villain of all time in 2014.

Bucky Barnes was originally introduced in Captain America Comics #1 in March of 1941 as Captain America's sidekick. Interestingly, over the years, Bucky's name and costume have been featured as a variety of other characters in Marvel comics.

There is even a point when Steve Rogers is presumed dead, and Bucky Barnes temporarily assumes the role of Captain America himself!

There have been times when Stan Lee has made it clear he dislikes the idea of kid sidekicks. At some point in the 1970s, he stated that "one of my many pet peeves has always been the young teenage sidekick of the average superhero."

The Marvel Universe has virtually no young sidekicks, as "no responsible hero wants to endanger a minor in a similar fashion." We all remember the complicated relationship between Tony Stark and Peter Parker in the MCU...

Disney and Marvel are honestly well-suited to be fandoms combined together. Both universes have the best fans, with the best senses of humor and the most artistic talent.

As long as Marvel and Disney fans are creating fan art, we'll be gushing over it. Which piece was your favorite today?
