Lady Gaga Slams Infamous Facebook Page That Claimed She Would "Never Be Famous"
"This is why you can't give up when people doubt you or put you down."
We all have dreams in life, and sadly, not everyone is necessarily supportive of them or our ability to achieve them. Just ask mega-star Lady Gaga!
The award-winning singer, songwriter, and actress recently shared an old post from a hateful Facebook page created by some of her former college classmates. The page titled "Stefani Germanotta, you will never be famous" has since been deleted, but amusingly, Gaga got to have the last laugh.
"This is why you can't give up when people doubt you or put you down," the star wrote under a TikTok about the hostile page. It was started by a group of Gaga's New York University classmates many years ago, mocking her dreams of becoming a star.
Of course, Lady Gaga proved them all wrong by becoming one of the biggest and most successful stars on the planet, winning 13 Grammys, two Golden Globes, and receiving a nomination for an Academy Award, among other impressive accomplishments. The superstar withdrew from NYU in 2005 to pursue her career in entertainment.
"Some people I went to college with made this way back when," Gaga commented on the post. "This is why you can't give up when people doubt you or put you down - you gotta keep going."

Overcoming Doubt and Resilience
Lady Gaga's experience is a classic case of resilience in the face of adversity. According to Dr. Angela Duckworth, a psychologist known for her research on grit, perseverance plays a vital role in achieving long-term goals.
Her book, Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance, highlights how individuals who cultivate resilience are more likely to succeed despite external negativity. Gaga's story exemplifies Duckworth's findings, proving that self-belief can counteract external skepticism and lead to remarkable accomplishments.
Lady Gaga's journey underscores the importance of self-affirmation in overcoming doubt. Motivational speaker Mel Robbins advocates for daily affirmations to build self-confidence and combat negativity.
Robbins suggests that individuals write down their achievements and strengths, as reflecting on these can create a positive self-image. Incorporating such practices into daily routines can help mitigate the impact of external criticisms and reinforce one's self-worth, ultimately leading to greater success in personal and professional endeavors.

Experts recommend strategies like curating one's social media feed and engaging with supportive communities to foster a healthier online environment. A mental health professional might suggest limiting exposure to negative content, which aids emotional well-being and promotes a sense of belonging.

The Role of Support Systems
Dr. Sonja Lyubomirsky, a leading researcher in happiness, emphasizes the importance of social support in overcoming challenges. Her research shows that individuals with strong support networks are more resilient to stress and adversity.
This highlights the value of surrounding oneself with positive influences and mentors who can offer encouragement during tough times. Engaging in supportive communities, whether online or offline, can help build resilience and foster a sense of belonging, essential for personal growth.
