Artist Wants to Show That Love Conquers All by Drawing Disney Characters as Same-Sex Couples

Love is a universal and complex emotion. You can’t really define it, but you can see it and feel it. There are so many kinds of love, yet at the same time, it’s all love. If this explanation seems complicated, it’s because love is complicated.

José Rodolfo Loaiza Ontiveros, an artist from Mazatlán, Mexico, wanted to show that love transcends gender and social norms, and his illustrations do a much better job than our explanation at the beginning of the article. He draws Disney characters as same-sex couples and provides different happy endings to our favorite movies.

José's drawings are inspired by Pop Art and Lowbrow Art. His newest project, called "Dramaholics," demonstrates the power of love by portraying both heterosexual and homosexual couples. Perhaps this series will inspire Disney executives, and we could finally see a character who identifies as LGBTQ+ or even same-sex couples in the movies?
