Rescuers Find Seven-Year-Old Girl Who Has Been Protecting Baby Brother Under The Earthquake Rubble For 17 Hours, Video Goes Viral And Melts Hearts
This young girl's bravery is worthy of the highest praise.
In reality, older sisters frequently assume a quasi-parental role for their younger brothers, whether as a result of the way women are socialized to behave or out of a natural protective urge for their younger siblings. This is something that society hardly ever acknowledges.
As much as siblings quarrel, older sisters have a strong inclination to defend anyone who tries to fight their younger brothers. Because they have experienced the same things, older sisters are often the ones to step in when parents are being overly strict with their younger brothers.
They are also the ones to remind parents to consider their siblings' mental health if necessary. Siblings' love and concern for one another are gender-neutral.
You want to take care of them and be there for them, regardless of whether one is a boy or a girl. When you see a little newborn being brought into your home and watch that child grow up with you, you just want to protect them.
In reality, older sisters protect their younger sisters too. Little sisters defend their older brothers and sisters in the same way.
But for some reason, the notion that only brothers can defend sisters persists. That may be true, but let's not forget to honor these devoted sisters as well!
