Society Could Learn a Lot From This Gay Man's Perspective Of Women's Modesty

He took to Twitter to raise poignant questions that more people should be asking.

Debate rages on over "rape culture" and what it means to be a modern woman. Lately, we've seen a global pushback from women to create effective change. In fact, the second annual Women's March was just a couple of months ago, and that says a lot about the voices women want to be heard regarding who we are, what we are capable of, and what we are sick and tired of.

Despite the pushback, society continues to downplay issues instead of acknowledging and facing them head-on. Few examples illustrate this better than how society treats the way women (and girls) dress. Across the country, we see parents having to defend their young girls for ridiculous dress-code violations, like Catherine Pearlman, for example. Other absurd examples include the pregnant woman who was refused service at a restaurant for nothing more than the way she was dressed! And if all of that isn't bad (or annoying) enough, we still have people in society who suggest a woman is asking for negative attention from men simply because of her attire. News flash, dudes: it's called unsolicited attention because she's not dressed that way for you. These issues play into a larger conversation about what rape culture means in an industrialized, first-world nation. Women's rights are about more than being legally allowed to vote or drive; it's about being treated with equal respect as human beings.

But too often, our voices fall on deaf ears, and last year, one man had enough. From the perspective of a gay man, the world got to hear a voice and a perspective that most had not encountered before.

What is modesty?

Say what, now?

"Change your clothes."

Absolute madness.

Worth & Value = / = How Women Dress

This isn't what freedom of speech was supposed to mean.

Newsflash!

Extra, extra! Read all about it:

Take some responsibility, men.

From a man's perspective:

Never have I ever.

That's my problem, not yours.

The nerve of some people?

If he's not asking for it, neither is she.

A person's worth:

Again, take some responsibility!

Own it. Stop playing the blame game.

Rape Culture:

Our daughters deserve better. We deserve better.

Change? It's long overdue.

Here's what women really deserve:

As to be somewhat expected, not everyone understood the message.

Like this dude, for example. The point went so far over his head it touched the vastness of space.

But a whole lot of women were cheering him on. Now, we just need everyone to listen to the message.

Say it loud, say it proud!
