Incredible Artists Create Disney Characters in Their Own Unique Styles, and Each One Is Totally Amazing

Three artists all at once? Awesome.

We can never get enough art, especially when it's inspired by Disney characters and Disney stories, created by Disney fans for Disney fans. The truth is, and we've said it many times before, Disney fans produce some of the world's best fan art (not that anime fans don't; there's a lot of fandom crossover, thankfully).

We love to take every opportunity to celebrate the incredible skill of Disney fan artists, and these three artists from all over the United States are definitely worth gushing over. Each artist has their own distinct style, interests, and skills, yet they all recreate easily identifiable Disney characters.

This intersection of unique and classic is precisely what makes Disney fan art the best. Check them out!

First up is Jessica Oyhenart AKA JessiBeans

Santa Monica-based artist Jessica Oyhenart is the Illustration Associate Art Director for Riot Games, who loves creating fan art for commissions on the side. Her mini-series of Disney princesses is inspired by Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, a French Neoclassical painter. As Dr. Dan Siegel, a renowned child psychiatrist, emphasizes, "Creativity is a way to express and explore our inner worlds, allowing us to connect with ourselves and others" (source: drdansiegel.com).

Second in the lineup: a portrait series by GrayDustOA

Texas-based artist Gray Dust OA creates fan art primarily inspired by Disney and anime (especially Sailor Moon!). Their art style is vibrantly colorful and displays a genuine amount of skill and passion. As Gretchen Rubin, happiness researcher, states, "The days are long, but the years are short," highlighting the importance of cherishing creativity in our lives. In this short series, Gray Dust created illustrated portraits of six popular Disney princesses, and they are honestly just super beautiful! You can explore more about the emotional impact of art on personal expression at Gretchen Rubin's website.

Last up: Suisei-Ojii-Sama

Suisei-Ojii-Sama creates a variety of fan art, but most of it is inspired by Disney or Sailor Moon. This unique series is quite the creative endeavor for the United States-based artist.

Speaking on their inspiration, the artist said:

"A while ago, I posted an image of Belle from Beauty and the Beast from a story I was working on where the Disney princesses became magical schoolgirls (it's as silly as it sounds). I haven't really done anything with them since then, so I thought I would just work with them in the shape form that I've been using recently."

Princess: Mulan of Zhongguo

"Mulan, I would say, is the tomboy of the group. Think of her almost as Sailor Jupiter, but with a sword that she can use to communicate with and control spirits (that's what all the smoke and the glowy orbs are supposed to be). She's not afraid to get into fights and beat people down, but all she really wants is a friend."Princess: Mulan of Zhongguosuisei-ojii-sama

Princess: Jasmine of Agrabah

"Her character in the story would be very mysterious, the last princess to regain her powers because of something she did in the past concerning her beloved Aladdin and a fight for his life."Princess: Jasmine of Agrabahsuisei-ojii-sama

Princess: Belle of Rosaille

"Her character is very much like her character in the movie: beautiful but quiet, with an affinity for written words rather than spoken ones. She is actually Aurora's sister in the story and has always been a little jealous of her. The Rose Mirror has become hers and can reveal the truth as well as cast protection circles and shields."Princess: Belle of Rosaillesuisei-ojii-sama

Princess: Aurora of Thorngale

"Princess Aurora of Thorngale. Her powers are attached to a set of magical bracelets (with the same name as her kingdom) which the Princess of Thorngale can use to command the winds (weave tornadoes... get it? Forget the fact that spinning wheels have nothing to do with weaving, please) and also launch those nifty thorn-like attachments as projectiles."Princess: Aurora of Thorngalesuisei-ojii-sama

Princess: Ariel of Atlantica

"Ariel, in the story, is the leader of this ragtag team of magical schoolgirls. She commands control over the Trident of Atlantica, used by all of its rulers since its inception. Anything that the Trident can do in the movie, Ariel can use it for (it doesn't mean she knows how, though...). In her free time, Ariel is an average student (more on the barely passing side...) but also an avid dancer. Aurora is her best friend, and together they're ready for anything."Princess: Ariel of Atlanticasuisei-ojii-sama
