A Depressed Person Texted The Wrong Number Thinking It Was The Crisis Line And The Response Was Pleasantly Surprising

Be prepared to feel a little emotional.

Depression affects many people in today's society and is an issue that is being brought to light in mainstream media. As someone who suffers from depression, I know firsthand how it feels to be in your darkest moments and how important it is to have services, such as crisis centers, readily available.

If it were not for these crisis lines, there would be even higher rates of suicide than there currently are. One man found himself in depression's relentless grip and decided to reach out to a crisis line for help. Unfortunately, he ended up texting the wrong number, reaching a pasta company instead of his intended recipient. Rather than ignoring him or simply telling him he had the wrong number, the company responded in a way he never expected.

Sarah received the text, which was regarding lasagna noodles, but she knew it meant far more. She could tell that the issue went beyond noodles and was actually a serious and possibly life-threatening situation. She went on to let the person know that she was there for them and that things would get better.

Sarah acted as an amazing human being, and she truly helped this individual make it through a very dark time. She went above and beyond her duties as an employee and demonstrated what an incredible person she was.
