Runaway Dog Ends Up Winning Third Place In A Dog Show, Comes Home Proudly With A Rosette

by Sophia

A lost pet is definitely a common nightmare for fur parents, and it's stressful enough to even just think about it. It's not easy to search for every corner, plaster flyers everywhere, and contact a lot of people just to have some kind of lead as to where your cat or dog may have traveled to.

However, sometimes, even if we already do everything on our side to keep them healthy and happy, they may sometimes get scared, confused, or terrified—and sometimes, that's enough of a reason for them to run away. But fret not, though, because sometimes they run away because they are bored and want a change of scenery to entertain themselves.

That may seem like an adventure to them, but there's no denying that the stress always falls upon the hoomans taking care of them! However, fur parents must also ensure that they are always entertained enough so they won't fall into a habit of running away just so they could find something or someone to play with because it can be truly a frustrating experience especially when they do it for the first time.

This one particular dog, however, didn't only cause frustration—but also a sense of pride to its owners because she managed to bag a prize from a dog show after running away...

Meet Bonnie. She's a five-year-old dog who decided to go on a little adventure, which caused her fur parents, Peter and Paula Closier to be stressed out.

The pup went missing on a Sunday morning, and gathered a search party as she has been a no-show for hours already.

“We thought maybe she is not interested in food and did a full search of the house. I could not see her,” Peter said. “I was walking back to the kitchen when I saw the gate had swung and I thought ‘oh no.’”

While her parents were in panic mode, Bonnie was found by a certain John Wilmer, who was on his way to a dog show and brought two dogs of his own.

He posted the dog on Facebook, saying: “Does anyone know this dog?”

Thanks to the power of social media, the owners were immediately informed of Bonnie's whereabouts so they already knew the dog was safe. John, however, decided to enter Bonnie into the competition along with his two dogs.

“She was such a lovely dog, I thought it’d be good to enter her,” John told the BBC. “I was in a bit of a rush to get there when we found Bonnie and put her in the car,” hence why he couldn’t bring her straight back to her family.

When John decided to enter Bonnie into a competition, little did he know that he would bag the third place rosette—just look at how proud the little troublemaker is!

“We couldn’t believe it. You could not make it up,” Peter said. “Bonnie was absolutely fine when she got back. She just thought she was having a great day out.”

Let's face it, we would have been terrified, too—it's a good thing that Bonnie's such a charming girl and even went home with something to brag about! Let's just hope our pets won't pull a Bonnie and give us some heart attacks, but it's absolutely important for us to ensure that they would be entertained even when we leave them be for hours.
