Why EPCOT's Manatee Stop Will Keep Changing, Starting With Calfuccino
Disney World has added Calfuccino at EPCOT as The Seas moves to short-term manatee rehabilitation with six to nine month stays.
Disney World visitors have a new manatee to look for at EPCOT, and her arrival points to a bigger change at The Seas. Calfuccino has joined Disney's care program as the resort shifts away from long-term housing and toward shorter rehabilitation stays.
A new manatee has arrived at The Seas
Calfuccino, a young female manatee, is now staying at The Seas with Nemo & Friends at EPCOT while she receives rehabilitation aimed at getting her ready for release back into the wild.
Guests can currently find her inside The Seas, where she has joined Tanimura and Cider, two other manatees also being cared for as they work toward returning to their natural habitat.

In the clip below, Disney introduces Calfuccino as the newest manatee now being cared for at EPCOT.
Her arrival comes as Walt Disney World changes how it handles manatee care. Instead of serving as a long-term facility, Disney has shifted its focus to short-term critical care. According to Dr. Jen, a veterinarian at Walt Disney World, the change is intended to help at a time when strandings are increasing and critical care sites are becoming overcrowded.
By shortening stays at The Seas, Disney says it can make room for more urgent cases, ease pressure on packed facilities, and support the work of the Manatee Rescue & Rehabilitation Partnership. Dr. Jen also said the move strengthens Disney's role in manatee conservation.

What this means for guests and for the rehab program
Under the updated approach, the plan is for manatees to stay at Disney for about six to nine months. For guests, that could mean seeing a wider rotation of animals at The Seas, including younger manatees.
Calfuccino's stay is part of Disney's work with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Manatee Rescue & Rehabilitation Partnership, organizations involved in manatee recovery and protection.
Disney has already pointed to other manatees that moved through its care before going back into the wild, including Soleil, released in May 2026, and Mermaid, released in October 2025. For now, Calfuccino is the newest reason for Disney animal fans to make a stop at The Seas.
