Disney Is Updating a Liberty Square Staple, and the Most Surprising Change Is on the Menu

Disney has confirmed new Columbia Harbour House menu items at Magic Kingdom, including a plant-based sandwich and Boston Cream Pie.

Disney has confirmed an immediate update for one of Magic Kingdom’s most familiar dining spots, and it is happening in Liberty Square. Columbia Harbour House will get a menu refresh on October 28, with a mix of revised seafood offerings, a new plant-based sandwich, and a dessert that fits the restaurant’s New England identity.

A quick-service favorite in one of Magic Kingdom’s oldest lands is changing

The latest confirmed change at Magic Kingdom is not a new attraction or a full restaurant overhaul. Instead, Disney is adjusting the menu at Columbia Harbour House, the long-running quick-service location in Liberty Square.

That makes this update especially notable for fans of the park’s original-era spaces. Liberty Square has been part of Magic Kingdom since the park opened on October 1, 1971, and it has largely kept the identity that made it stand out in the first place. The land is still defined by its colonial American look and by established attractions and landmarks including Haunted Mansion, the Hall of Presidents, and the former landing area for the Liberty Square Riverboat.

Within that setting, Columbia Harbour House has built a reputation as one of the park’s more distinctive counter-service restaurants. While many Magic Kingdom quick-service locations lean on burgers, chicken tenders, and other standard theme park meals, this restaurant has long been known for seafood-focused options in a New England-inspired space.

Disney says the new menu lineup takes effect on October 28, 2026, putting the changes in place before November begins.

What is actually being added on October 28

Disney has confirmed four menu items tied to the refresh at Columbia Harbour House.

The incoming lineup includes a Beer-Battered Fish Platter, a Hand-Breaded Shrimp Platter, a Plant-Based Crab Cake Sandwich, and Boston Cream Pie.

Not all of those entries are entirely new in the same way. The Beer-Battered Fish Platter is already on the existing menu, so its presence points to an updated version of a current offering rather than a brand-new dish.

The shrimp platter is a clearer change. Columbia Harbour House currently serves a Beer-Battered Shrimp Platter, and the revised menu replaces that with hand-breaded shrimp instead. It is a small shift on paper, but it changes the preparation of one of the restaurant’s seafood staples.

For returning guests, that means a familiar order may not arrive in quite the same form after the update goes live. And for visitors who choose Columbia Harbour House specifically because it offers something different from the rest of Magic Kingdom’s quick-service field, these are the kinds of menu revisions that can make a regular stop feel new again.

The plant-based item may be the most interesting addition

The biggest point of curiosity in the new lineup may be the Plant-Based Crab Cake Sandwich. Even though the name references a seafood classic, Disney is presenting it as a meat-free choice for guests looking beyond fish and shrimp.

Disney’s description and promotional images show the sandwich on a brioche bun with lettuce, tomato, and tartar sauce. It is also served with french fries.

That addition matters because Columbia Harbour House has traditionally centered its menu around seafood. Bringing in another plant-based option broadens the restaurant’s appeal without changing its overall identity.

It also gives mixed groups more flexibility. A seafood-forward restaurant can be an easy choice for some guests and a difficult one for others, especially during a long park day when a group may want to stay together instead of splitting up for food. A plant-based sandwich gives the location another entry point for visitors who are not interested in the standard fish-and-shrimp lineup.

Disney has not shared a detailed ingredient list alongside the announcement, so guests with allergy concerns or more specific dietary needs will still need to check the official menu before ordering.

The dessert keeps the theme intact

The fourth addition is dessert, and it is a choice that fits the restaurant’s setting neatly. Beginning October 28, Columbia Harbour House will also offer Boston Cream Pie.

Disney describes it as two layers of yellow cake with Boston cream filling between them, topped with chocolate ganache. Even with the word pie in the name, it is traditionally a cake, not a conventional pie.

Thematically, the dessert makes sense for a restaurant built around a New England coastal feel. It adds something sweet without pushing Columbia Harbour House away from the atmosphere it already has.

Taken together, the changes are modest rather than transformational. Disney is not remaking Columbia Harbour House or altering Liberty Square itself. But for a restaurant that has welcomed guests for decades in one of Magic Kingdom’s most historic lands, even a limited menu refresh stands out.

For Disney Parks fans, that is the real takeaway. A familiar Liberty Square stop is about to serve a slightly different meal, and one of the most intriguing new options is not another seafood platter at all.
