Teenager Abruptly Leaves a Halloween Party Early to Avoid a Creepy Man Who Wants to Make Her Straight, but She Got Her Friend in Trouble in the Process
OP attended a party with her friend, got followed by a creep, and then their moms showed up.
A Halloween party was supposed to be a fun night out for a 17-year-old girl and her friend, but it turned awkward fast. After a last-minute change in ride plans, she found herself stuck at the party, uneasy, and scrambling for a way home.
Things got worse when she ran into a 24-year-old guy from her French class who would not leave her alone. She says he kept following her around, knew she was gay, and even told her he wanted to make her straight, which made the whole night feel even more uncomfortable.
By the time her mom arrived, the situation had already spiraled, and her friend’s secret lie was about to come out too. Read on.

People think that Martiza is being petty because she lied and got caught

If you're going to lie, the story says, you should at least be ready for the fallout.
This is the friendship fallout version of trusting your instincts over your best friend’s relationship advice and causing drama.
If you want your friend to cover for you, the least you can do is let them in on the lie

OP has nothing to feel guilty about

Agreed, OP is very wise and made all the right decisions that night

It was time for Martiza to learn that her actions have consequences

Martiza is being unreasonable for holding a grudge against OP

OP's mom sounds really awesome

As for the creep, commenters think that OP should inform the school about his lurking ways

"Make her straight" is a euphemism for something sinister

Vomit-inducing line, really

Martiza may not know it yet, but it was a good thing her mom showed up
ComtesseCrumpet
Maybe OP should distance herself from Martiza

Yikes, Martiza doesn't sound like a good friend.

Also, way to go OP's mom for backing up your daughter's claims about Mark!

The things that we learned from this story are: if you're going to lie, lie better; Martiza sounds like a bad friend; OP's mom is amazing, and OP has great instincts and knows how to stand up for herself.
Hopefully, OP doesn't run into Mark ever again because that guy has issues! We also hope that Martiza has learned something from this lesson. Go on Reddit when you get your phone back, please.
What did you think of OP's story? Do you agree with how she handled the situation with Martiza and the creepy guy? Sound off in the comments below!
That Halloween party turned into a mess nobody was ready for.
That same “leave her stranded for your own plan” blowup is in the AITA where someone ditched her friend’s party to go on a date.
