10 Beloved Stars Who Played Iconic Characters Only To Be Replaced By Other Actors
Does it make sense?
Fans don’t just fall in love with characters, they attach to specific faces. So when a beloved star gets replaced by someone else in a new installment, it can feel like the movie world is quietly rewriting the rules.
This gets especially messy in franchises where time travel, prequels, and reboots are basically plot devices. You’ve got Wesley Snipes as Blade, then Mahershala Ali steps in for the title role. Meanwhile, X-Men pulls the double feature trick with Michael Fassbender as the younger Magneto, replacing the vibe you already knew from Ian McKellen.
And once you hit the Star Wars and Terminator entries, it turns into a full-on “wait, who is that?” marathon.
