Disney World’s Muppet coaster holiday overlay teases a Christmas Carol cameo and 4 new songs
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets gets a holiday pre-show, festive courtyard music and four ride songs from Nov. 4 to Jan. 6.
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets is getting a seasonal remix, and the most intriguing hint is not the playlist. Disney’s holiday version adds a new pre-show, festive music and a possible nod to The Muppets Christmas Carol beginning November 4.
What is changing on the ride
The attraction’s Muppet storyline centers on the Electric Mayhem preparing for what is described as its biggest Hollywood concert ever, with one problem: the band is missing. Guests are brought into G-Force Records for a VIP look at the famous recording studio, which has recently come under Muppet management.
For the holiday overlay, the pre-show shifts into seasonal mode. Dr. Teeth, Animal, Floyd, Janice, Zoot and Lips are shown deep in rehearsals for a holiday spectacular while they work through a Christmas set list. Disney has also said other familiar Muppets will stop by the studio to help, or at least attempt to.
One clue has drawn extra attention. Disney shared an image of Gonzo and Rizzo wearing outfits associated with The Muppets Christmas Carol, suggesting that movie could factor into the overlay. Guests can also expect the Muppet makeover to include appearances from Statler and Waldorf.
The seasonal touches start before the train launches. Christmas music will be playing in the courtyard as guests approach the attraction.
The new songs and when guests will hear them
Music is a major part of the update, and the holiday version swaps in a four song lineup for the ride itself. Riders will hear one of these tracks during their trip: "Little Saint Nick" by the Electric Mayhem, "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" by Jennifer Hudson, "Holiday Road" by Kermit the Frog and Fozzie Bear, or "Silver Bells" by Cyndi Lauper and the Electric Mayhem.
The holiday overlay is scheduled to run from November 4, 2026, through January 6, 2027. That means anyone boarding Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets during that span will get the seasonal pre-show, the festive entry music and one of the four holiday themed ride songs.
