Wedding Completely Falls Apart After The Bride Hid The Fact That She Used to Date the Property Owner of the Wedding Venue
It's "Would you attend your ex's wedding?" on steroids
One wedding favor turned into a full-blown mess when a bride left out one very important detail about her past. The venue was free, the guest list was small, and the drama started long before anyone walked down the aisle.
OP had offered his private property for his best friend Carla’s wedding, even though he used to date her back in college. He and his wife were fine with it, but Carla’s fiancé, Rick, apparently did not know that history, and once he found out, everything started unraveling fast.
Now the wedding is in trouble, the friendship is strained, and OP is wondering how much of this fallout is really his problem. Read on.
Rick Found Out Recently and Felt Blindsided.
OP is not sure how exactly Rick found out, but from what OP learned, a mutual friend let the tidbit slip. More than that, years ago, Carla said she was still in love with OP despite already dating Rick.
Carla informed OP about the series of events and told him that Rick is now mad at her for not saying anything after all these years. After all that drama, OP had no contact with Carla for over a month.
Out of the blue, Carla contacted OP and told him she and Rick are going to couples counseling and that the wedding is still on. As a result of this new information, Rick requested that OP not be invited.
OP was disappointed, but he understood Rick's discomfort. The only question he has is: where will the wedding take place?
So, OP asked Carla about the venue, and to his surprise, she said it would still be at OP's house. He found this ridiculous since it's their home.
Rick and Carla expected OP and his wife to make themselves scarce during the wedding. He said no because it didn't make any sense.
Now, Rick, Carla, and their friends are accusing OP of sabotaging the wedding. They said OP is being a petty a**hole for refusing their request.

It's rare that your first significant other will be the person you'll spend the rest of your life with. Dating histories are a relatively normal part of life, and so are insecurities.
But Carla chose not to do the right thing when she blindsided her fiancé, who was rightfully hurt by the new information. The lesson is: be like OP, who is a generous friend and an honest spouse; don't be like Carla, who lied by omission and, in turn, hurt the people she loved.
Some weddings fall apart before the cake is even cut.
Don’t miss how a partner’s wedding ultimatum put OP in a bind over missing the ceremony, in this AITA.
