On March 31st, Bruce's ex-wife Demi Moore announced the sad news that Bruce would be retiring from his acting career. In an Instagram post, Demi explained that Bruce had been diagnosed with aphasia.
Aphasia is a brain disorder that can impede a person's understanding and speech. "As a family, we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities," Demi wrote.
"As a result of this, and with much consideration, Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him," the actress continued. Bruce's fans were deeply saddened by the shocking news.
So, what better time to celebrate the actor's remarkable and lengthy career? Bruce was born in West Germany, and his family relocated to New Jersey when he was still very young.
Interestingly, Bruce struggled with a stutter as a child, but it improved significantly when he began acting. Eventually, Bruce moved to New York City to pursue his acting career, where he worked as a bartender to support himself until he caught his big break.
That big break came in the form of the television series Moonlighting, which eventually earned Bruce a Golden Globe and an Emmy Award. The popularity Bruce acquired during his time on the show led him to secure some significant film roles.
