Getting children involved in simple tasks around the house and garden and giving them chores is beneficial for their development. By learning some basic life skills and responsibilities, they are gradually preparing to leave the nest when the time comes.

Parenting experts from The Parent Cue organization recommend that this “could be as simple as letting them decorate their own rooms, choose the paint colors, and select the bedsheets.” The ability to contribute to the household may, in fact, inspire them to care more about their surroundings and come to realize that they are also responsible for them.

However, some people do not think that a building site is the best place for kids to learn about these things. One builder looks at it from a different perspective.

He posted on Twitter: “Construction sites are dangerous places, and I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve had to have stern words with customers who insist on letting their little darlings run around freely after already being asked nicely to stop them.”
