19 Renowned Celebs Who Don't Really Dig Being Famous, And Here's What They Have To Say
"People don't realize how lonely you are."
Oftentimes, many people dislike celebrities because they think that they are just shallow-minded individuals who shouldn't complain about anything since they are already successful and famous. This is a common misconception, and it's tragic that many forget that, at the end of the day, celebrities are people too—only they are far more famous than us because their work enables them to be known all around the world.
There are numerous celebrities who exemplify the fact that fame and success don't always equate to constant happiness and well-being. Even if their jobs literally make them known and visible, some celebs prioritize the privacy of their personal lives, doing everything they can to keep themselves out of the spotlight when they're not engaged in a project and are simply spending their day as a normal person would.
It's understandable that celebs like Taylor Swift have reached a point where she had to squeeze herself into a suitcase just to avoid the paparazzi. It's quite amusing and also somewhat genius for Daniel Radcliffe to use the same jacket and hat for months so the paparazzi couldn't sell his photos for being uneventful.
That being said, being famous isn't all glitz and glamour; it comes with many sacrifices regarding personal life as well. Here are some of our favorite celebrities who have opened up about the downsides of fame:
1. Robert Pattinson
"People don't realize how lonely you are. In any case, I feel fortunate because success didn't reach me very young; at least I had the opportunity to have a life before."

"The word 'fame' was hard for me because it felt like there was a separation between me and everyone else. I feel like that word alone is so stigmatized, and there are so many connotations associated with it that, for a long time, I refused to even acknowledge it."

"There is no training; there's no school that teaches you how to be famous. Also, that would suck. That would be a trash school… Famous people suck. Fame is trash."

5. Shia LaBeouf
"The requirements for being a star/celebrity are, namely, you must become an enslaved body—just flesh—a commodity—and renounce all autonomous qualities in order to identify with the general law of obedience to the course of things."

6. Brad Pitt
"Somehow, you're not supporting your film if you don't get out on a show and talk about your personal life. It has nothing to do with why I do this."

7. Megan Fox
"They all think we should shut the fuck up and stop complaining because we live in a big house or drive a Bentley. What people don't realize is... you're being bullied by millions of people constantly."

8. Lady Gaga
"I used to wake up in the morning and realize I was 'Lady Gaga.' Then I became very depressed and sad, and I didn't want to be myself. I felt threatened by the things my career brought into my life and the pace of my life."

9. Cameron Diaz
"Fame is infantilizing. It very much takes away from your own sense of autonomy and ability to take care of yourself."

10. Gigi Hadid
"So, in a way, it's good because you learn that it's better to have a few really good friends than tons of friends you're not really sure about. There are people who understand that I love them and who know that when I get back to town, I'm going to call them. But sometimes I can't call every day because I'm in weird places."

11. Jennifer Aniston
"I’ve really gotten a lot out of therapy. Just being a public person, there are a lot of amazing things that come with that," she told People magazine. "But there’s also a lot of tough stuff because we’re only human, and we tend to walk around with bullseyes on our heads."

12. Mila Kunis
"At one point when I was pregnant, [the tabloids] said that I had an emergency and was rushed to the hospital, and my face was on the cover," she explained. "The amount of stress that caused my family, nobody will understand."

13. Jennifer Lawrence
"I think that we should be allowed time off. Three months. ‘Oh, it’s my three months off. You can’t photograph me.’ I would love to be able to control being photographed."

14. Daniel Radcliffe
"The quickest way to forget about the fact that you are being watched is to get very drunk. Then, as you get very drunk, you become aware, ‘Oh, people are watching more now because I’m getting very drunk, so I should probably drink more to ignore that more.’"

15. Sia
"If anyone besides famous people knew what it was like to be a famous person, they would never want to be famous," she wrote. "Imagine the stereotypical, highly opinionated, completely uninformed mother-in-law character and apply it to every teenager with a computer in the entire world."

16. Kourtney Kardashian
"We were all raised knowing that the most important thing is family. I never really thought about fame as a kid, and even when we were talking about doing the show, I didn't really think about it. I wasn't like, 'Oh, we're doing this show—I'm going to be famous.' Sometimes I wish we weren't filming. I love being a mom, and sometimes I just wish no one knew who I was."

17. Justin Bieber
"I became resentful, disrespectful to women, and angry. I became distant from everyone who loved me, and I was hiding behind a shell of the person I had become."

18. Selena Gomez
"It’s a lonely journey to really figure out where all this stuff is coming from. And to detach from it. It becomes an addiction; it becomes a habit, retraining your mind to not go to these negative places when you say something wrong, do something wrong, wear a certain thing, or represent a certain culture. But it is lonely; I had to lose a lot of people in my life to get there."

19. Cardi B
"One negative thing is that, even though I’m happy, I feel like I was a little bit happier two or three years ago when I had less money," she explained. "I had fewer people who had opinions about my life. I felt like my life was mine. Now I feel like I don’t even own my life. I feel like the world owns me."
