Man Evicts His Brother’s Family After Their 9-Year-Old Son Stole and Lost His $4K Engagement Ring
When you choose to turn a blind eye to your child's misdeeds, you are only encouraging them to do more.
As parents, it’s up to you to discipline your kids and ensure they do the right thing rather than excuse their wrongdoings because they’re children. The parents in today’s story chose to neglect their son’s misdeeds, and it landed them in a big mess. But did they learn from it?
Well, let’s find out. A Redditor named u/missingring_ has taken to the AITA subreddit community to share his story.
The Redditor's nephew is 9 and has a habit of stealing things, even when he goes to the store with his parents, who always excuse it by saying he may have forgotten he had it. Unfortunately, the OP’s brother lost his job, and they could no longer afford their bills, so they went to stay with the OP.
The OP initially didn’t want to accommodate them because of his nephew, but then he thought, “family is family.” The OP had saved up to buy a $4,000 engagement ring to propose to his girlfriend, only for his nephew to steal it.
He knew this because he had installed a camera in his room after his nephew had stolen his watch before. So, where is the ring? His nephew doesn’t know where he kept it.
Then the OP gave an ultimatum: find the ring within a week or face eviction. Keep scrolling to read the full story below.
