30 Amusing Comics Showing Ordinary and Unordinary Situations with a Twist

Exactly what you need to get your day started.

When it comes to older generations, many of us may have grown up reading our favorite comic strips every day in the newspaper. However, as time passed and technology, such as the internet, became more prevalent in our lives, we began to seek enjoyment online as well.

With the advent of the internet, the comic landscape changed, and most popular comics can now be found online. The term "webcomics" refers to a new phenomenon of comic strips that are entirely based on the internet.

Artist James P., also known as "But a Jape" on social media, is one of the newest artists we would like to introduce to you. His comics are hilarious, colorful, and full of strange and surprising twists, such as aliens keeping humans as pets, among other things.

"Perry Bible Fellowship probably most represents my ideal form of comic-based humor—both the writing of the jokes and the art accompanying them serve to make each comic more than the sum of its parts. The jokes are simple but executed elegantly, with no extraneous dialogue or overly complex visuals," he says.

We have chosen 30 of the most interesting comics, and we know you are going to love them. Take a look:

When asked about his inspiration, the artist responded:

“Nicholas Gurewitch’s ability to employ different art styles to complement various types of jokes is another skill I aspire to emulate—though I wouldn’t say I’ve developed this skill quite as well as I would like. Making myself release two comics a week tends to limit my ability to experiment too much with my art style when a simpler one ensures I can finish more at a time.SMBC is another major influence in terms of how I approach humor. In fact, it may have influenced me more than I thought, since I often receive comments like, 'I thought this was SMBC until I read the author’s name.' To be honest, I’m still unclear as to where exactly the overlap in our comics is, but it’s given me a bit of a complex where, after finishing up every comic, I stop to think to myself, 'Does this look like SMBC?' or 'SMBC didn’t do this joke already, did it?'"

James says that the time needed for each comic differs—sometimes it takes him an hour, and sometimes it can take him a couple of weeks. It all depends on the inspiration.

We can only say that we are happy with the result. These comics are truly intelligent and funny.
