Disney’s BoardWalk Is Getting a Make Your Own Soap Shop, and That’s the Real Twist

Disney has confirmed Basin on the BoardWalk is coming soon, adding soap making, bath tea blending and embossing to the resort area.

Disney has quietly confirmed a new kind of BoardWalk addition, and it is not another place to eat. Basin on the BoardWalk now has an official Walt Disney World webpage, confirming the third Walt Disney World location for the bath and body brand and signaling that the shop is coming soon.

What changed at Disney’s BoardWalk

The new BoardWalk outpost will not work like Basin’s existing Walt Disney World stores at Disney Springs and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. Along with selling Basin staples such as natural soaps, botanical bath salts, bath bombs, body butters, lip salves, and shampoo and conditioner bars, the BoardWalk location is set to add hands on elements.

Disney says guests will be able to blend their own bath tea, make a bar of soap from scratch, and emboss a soap with a personal touch. Those experiences are listed as a bath tea blending counter, a make your own soap station, and a soap embossing press.

The shop is being framed as a 1920s apothecary inspired space tied to classic boardwalk heritage. That fits the area’s established period styling and marks this as more than a standard retail stop. Instead of simply browsing and buying, guests visiting BoardWalk will have a new activity built into the shopping experience.

For Disney fans, that is the main shift. Basin is already a familiar stop because its products are easy to pack, relatively affordable, and actually get used after a trip. The BoardWalk version adds customization that existing Walt Disney World Basin stores do not currently offer.

Who it affects, and what Disney still has not said

The update matters most for Walt Disney World guests spending time around Disney’s BoardWalk, including visitors walking between EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios and families looking for something to do outside the parks. It also adds another new draw to a resort area that has recently picked up Hurly-Burly, with a quick service dining location also teased for the district.

The change takes effect when Basin on the BoardWalk opens, but Disney has not announced an opening date. The official webpage lists the location as coming soon.

Disney also has not shared several practical details yet. There is still no word on whether the interactive stations will cost extra, whether reservations will be required, or whether any minimum age rules will apply.

For now, the clearest takeaway is simple. BoardWalk is getting a third Basin location for Walt Disney World, but this one is being built around making something, not just buying it.
