Disney set Incredibles 3 for June 16, 2028, confirming the Parr family and Frozone return as Pixar's second trilogy.

Pixar's super family just got a major update at D23. Disney confirmed that Incredibles 3 is on the way for summer 2028, and the film is set to give Pixar only its second franchise to reach three movies.

Pixar chief creative officer Pete Docter used the D23 Entertainment Showcase to reaffirm that a third Incredibles movie is in development. Disney also dated the film for June 16, 2028.

Docter said the new movie will bring back the Parr family and Frozone, and the presentation included a fresh look at the characters. For fans of the series, that is the clearest update yet on what Disney is positioning as the next theatrical chapter for one of Pixar's best known properties.

A rare Pixar trilogy

The bigger significance is where Incredibles 3 fits in Pixar history. Once it arrives, The Incredibles will become only the second Pixar franchise to span three films. The only other one so far is Cars, which released movies in 2006, 2011, and 2017 around Lightning McQueen and the studio's world of sentient cars.

That distinction stands out because Toy Story no longer qualifies as a three movie series. It had reached trilogy status in 2010, but later added two more entries released in 2019 and 2026. There have also been reports of early story ideas for two additional Toy Story sequels, though those projects have not been officially confirmed.

The announcement also lands during a period when Disney's animation labels are leaning hard into follow ups. Walt Disney Animation Studios already has more franchise entries on its upcoming slate, including new installments in Zootopia, Frozen, and Moana. Pixar's own lineup is more mixed, with the original film Gatto among its releases, but sequels remain a major part of the strategy. Disney's broader animation group has also continued extending existing brands, with 20th Century Animation recently unveiling a first look at the next Ice Age.

For now, the immediate takeaway is simple. Incredibles 3 is officially on Disney's calendar for June 16, 2028, and the studio is framing it as the film that completes the superhero family's trilogy.
