Artist Re-Imagines Disney Princesses And Villains As Babies After Being Inspired By A Newborn Photoshoot

Disney characters as babies! It doesn't get better than that ❤️

Disney fans love a good reimagining, and this one turns familiar characters into something even softer, babies. Photographer Karen Marie first popularized the idea with newborn Disney princess photoshoots, and digital artist Alex Pick took that spark in a new direction by drawing princesses and villains as adorable little ones.

Pick, who has built a big following for his whimsical Disney-inspired art, says the concept came from his love of classic animation and the playful possibilities it opens up. The result is a series that mixes nostalgia, cuteness, and a little villainous charm in one place.

Alex Pick said his love for 2D Disney movies shaped his style, along with everyday life, Instagram, movies, and series. He also said he is still developing his art style with every new drawing and illustration.

He added that the time it takes to finish a piece depends on the idea; sometimes a sketch comes together in half an hour, while other drawings take several hours to complete.

That creative process does not always run on schedule.

Art can be quite complicated; inspiration can sometimes run dry, and many artists often struggle with that:

Alex said his ideas can show up at the weirdest times, so he often writes or sketches them down quickly to remember them. He also said Disney gives him plenty of material to remix from different angles, which keeps the drawings fun.

He also shared that he went through a major burnout in 2016, a period that made him feel like he might never draw again. He said he got professional help, learned more about himself, and has been trying to balance creativity without forcing it.

People do not all react to his work the same way.

Bored Panda also asked Pick about people's reactions to his work:

Alex said he is fine with different opinions, since not every piece of art will appeal to everyone. He said many people are supportive, offer encouragement, or share objective criticism and suggestions, and that what matters most to him is loving what he does.

He also said he enjoys sketching the idea, playing with shapes and poses, and cleaning the line art because it is relaxing.

When asked about what inspired him to start an account based on Disney, Pick said:

He said his love for Disney stories, adventures, and characters is what keeps inspiring him, and that the Disney universe is a magical place to draw from.

Will you be drawing more Disney characters as babies in the future?

He said maybe, since there are so many characters left to choose from.

Digital art is not only time-consuming, but it also requires a lot of patience, focus, and, of course, money:

Alex said he has been drawing since he could hold a pencil, starting with traditional art before moving back and forth between paper and digital tools. He said digital drawing is easier with his schedule, especially on an iPad Pro or Wacom Cintiq.

He also added a final note about believing in yourself, respecting other artists, and remembering how much effort goes into every piece.
