Why a 620-Minute LinaBell Wait Became Shanghai Disneyland's Wildest Halloween Line
A reported 620-minute LinaBell wait at Shanghai Disneyland shows how Halloween and Duffy fandom can rival top ride queues.
The most eye-catching Halloween line at Shanghai Disneyland was not attached to a headline ride. It was attached to a character greeting, where a reported wait for LinaBell climbed so high that it nearly matched the length of her entire scheduled appearance window.
On October 17, a guest at Shanghai Disneyland reported a posted wait of 620 minutes to meet LinaBell, the pink fox from Duffy and Friends. That works out to 10 hours and 20 minutes for a single character meet-and-greet, an astonishing number even at a resort known for seasonal crowds and sought-after limited experiences.
The figure has not been independently verified, and posted waits are estimates rather than guarantees. Even so, the number immediately stood out because it pushed a character line into the same kind of territory usually associated with the resort's busiest attractions, not a quick stop for a photo and autograph.

As the post above put it, the wait was extraordinary. LinaBell meets guests at Friendship Point in Adventure Isle, and her listed appearance window runs from 8:30 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. If a 620-minute estimate held, it would come close to consuming almost that entire stretch of the day.
There are practical caveats. Disney can close character lines before a scheduled set ends, and the resort's posted times are only estimates. But even with those limits in mind, the reported queue captured something fans of Disney parks know well: character greetings can become major draws in their own right, especially when a rare look, a seasonal costume, or a particularly beloved character is involved.

Why LinaBell can pull a crowd this size
LinaBell is not a legacy film star like Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck. She is a park-created character, introduced at Shanghai Disneyland in September 2021 as part of the Duffy and Friends lineup. She is a pink fox, known for carrying a magnifying glass and helping her friends solve mysteries.
That backstory matters because LinaBell's popularity did not grow out of a movie or television series. She was designed specifically for Disney's parks, joining Duffy, ShellieMay, Gelatoni, StellaLou, CookieAnn, and 'Olu Mel. Despite having little presence at Disney's American resorts, Duffy and Friends has built an enormous following across Disney's Asian parks, where guests routinely treat meet-and-greets and merchandise releases as destination events.
LinaBell's rise has been especially noticeable. Shanghai Disney Resort marked her fifth anniversary in September 2026 with special festivities from September 23 through 29, folded into a month-long Duffy and Friends celebration. A character created for the parks has become one of the resort's strongest people-magnets, and the reported 620-minute wait is the kind of number that shows just how far that appeal now reaches.

Halloween added even more fuel
The reported line arrived in the middle of one of Shanghai Disneyland's busiest seasonal periods. Halloween at the resort began on October 4 and runs through November 1, 2026, with this year's celebration also tied to Shanghai Disney Resort's 10th anniversary. The seasonal package includes special food, exclusive entertainment, new character costumes, and themed encounters spread across the park.
The timing on October 17 is important. It fell during the first weekend of the resort's expanded Halloween Spook-tacular Days, which grew from eight days to 10 this year. Those dates run October 16 to 18, October 23 to 25, and October 29 through November 1, effectively concentrating some of the most in-demand offerings into selected days inside a broader Halloween season.
On those Spook-tacular Days, guests can move through five Halloween party zones, collect treats around the resort, and stop by Donald's Halloween Treat Party in Festival Forest. The lineup also includes surprise character appearances in the Alice in Wonderland Maze and the Disney Villains Castle Celebration. Elsewhere, Peg-Leg Pete appears as an evil king, Tomorrowland hosts The Villains' Club, Treasure Cove offers Buccaneer Bash with Captain Jack Sparrow, and the Zootopia land joins in with its annual Howl-o-ween featuring Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde, and other characters.
Against that backdrop, LinaBell was not just meeting guests. She was meeting them in a Halloween costume during one of the resort's signature seasonal stretches. For 2026, she wears a red coat with fur trim, a purple-and-yellow striped dress, and a small top hat decorated with a pumpkin, spiderweb, and feather. More broadly, Duffy and Friends are dressed as a troupe of traveling performers, while Mickey Mouse and friends have adopted steampunk-inspired outfits.
Unlike Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom, Shanghai Disneyland's Halloween program is included with regular park admission rather than sold as a separate ticketed event. That makes the seasonal offering accessible to the entire daily park crowd, and it helps explain why certain meet-and-greets can become major commitments.

How Disney tries to keep the line moving
Shanghai Disneyland's own rules for character greetings show how carefully the resort manages these encounters when demand spikes. Guests are instructed to follow cast members' directions, and the resort asks visitors to keep their interactions brief so more people can take part.
There are also limits built into the experience. Guests may request one autograph per character, selfie sticks are not allowed during meet-and-greets, and Disney asks guests to show affection gently when interacting with characters. Those guidelines read like routine housekeeping, but in the context of a posted 620-minute wait, they also underline how much pressure even a short greeting can face when one character becomes the must-do stop of the day.

A familiar pattern for Duffy and Friends fans
For Shanghai Disneyland, this was not the first sign that Duffy and Friends demand can surge beyond the ordinary. The resort has already seen severe crowding tied to the franchise's merchandise, with one earlier episode centered not on a greeting but on a retail release.
In March 2024, guests reportedly waited as long as eight hours outside Sweetheart Confectionery to buy Duffy and CookieAnn backpacks. The scene reportedly grew chaotic. Some guests allegedly fainted, others attempted to rush the store, and security was called. The backpacks sold out, and online queue reservations reportedly vanished within minutes.
Afterward, some of those reservations were reportedly offered for resale at prices from 300 to 500 yuan. Shanghai Disneyland later said it would improve the way it handles merchandise operations and address unauthorized reselling.
That history gives the LinaBell queue an important context. This was not simply a random long line on a busy holiday weekend. It fit a larger pattern in which Duffy and Friends, and LinaBell in particular, can generate a level of demand more commonly associated with blockbuster attractions or limited-edition products.
For Disney fans used to measuring a park day in Lightning Lane strategy and marquee ride waits, that may be the most revealing part of the story. One of the resort's biggest Halloween draws was a character with no film, no television series, and no theatrical push behind her. She only needed a spot at Friendship Point, a seasonal costume, and a fan base willing to wait almost all day for a moment.
