Hollywood Studios Swaps Gonzo’s Royal Flush for "Try Our Cans" as Monstropolis Moves In

Disney has replaced Gonzo’s Royal Flush at Hollywood Studios with a Monstropolis themed "Try Our Cans" facade ahead of phased 2027 openings.

One of the smallest details in Disney’s Hollywood Studios just became one of the clearest signs of a much bigger change. The restroom facade once known as Gonzo’s Royal Flush has been replaced, giving guests a fresh look at how Monstropolis is taking over the former Muppets Courtyard.

A Muppets gag is out, but the bathroom joke remains

The latest visible update is not an attraction entrance or restaurant sign. It is the exterior of a restroom building.

Gonzo’s Royal Flush, the Muppets themed facade added in late 2016 during the PizzeRizzo and Grand Avenue overhaul, has been removed. The name belonged to the restroom exterior rather than a ride, show, or dining location, and it turned a standard bathroom entrance into another Muppets joke for guests to spot while exploring the area.

After construction crews removed scaffolding from the building, a new design appeared in its place. The updated exterior uses a brick facade with large painted lettering that says, "Try Our Cans."

That change affects visitors moving through the former Muppets Courtyard right now, especially longtime Hollywood Studios fans used to finding character driven jokes across the surrounding buildings and signs. The wording keeps the bathroom humor in place by using "can" as slang for a toilet, but the joke now belongs to the upcoming Monsters, Inc. setting instead of the Muppets.

What changed in the larger Hollywood Studios overhaul

The restroom update is part of Disney’s wider plan to replace Muppets Courtyard with Monstropolis, a new land inspired by Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. That project already brought a major closure for the park. Muppet*Vision 3D, which opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on May 16, 1991, welcomed its final guests on June 7, 2025 and officially closed on June 8, 2025.

For more than three decades, the attraction helped define this corner of the park through 3D effects, Audio-Animatronics, and the Muppets’ comedy. Over time, the surrounding area also picked up themed buildings, restaurant details, signs, and other visual jokes that extended that identity beyond the theater itself.

Gonzo’s Royal Flush was a much newer addition than Muppet*Vision 3D, but its disappearance shows Disney is redesigning later era details as well, not just the original 1991 centerpiece. At D23 in August 2026, Disney said portions of Monstropolis would begin opening in phases during 2027, meaning guests could see parts of the new land before the full project is finished.
