Disney World’s 2027 shake-up spans three parks and a new Bay Lake resort
Disney World has seven confirmed 2027 additions, including Tropical Americas, Monstropolis openings, a revamped Carousel of Progress and Lakeshore Lodge.
Walt Disney World’s 2027 lineup is not just about one new ride or one new land. Disney has confirmed changes across Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Magic Kingdom and Bay Lake, setting up a year that touches multiple parts of the resort at once.
What changes in 2027
The biggest cluster of additions is headed to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, where the new Tropical Americas area will reshape the former DinoLand U.S.A. space. One of its anchor attractions is Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto, which brings guests inside the Casita from Encanto. The story is set on the day Antonio receives his gift of communicating with animals, with guests joining the family’s celebration in ride vehicles inspired by furniture from the Madrigal home.
The same area will also add Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent. Disney is transforming the former DINOSAUR attraction into a new Indiana Jones adventure that uses the existing ride system and building, but is described as an original story rather than a copy of another Indiana Jones ride. In it, Indy and guests head into an ancient Maya temple in search of the Jade Serpent, Tsukán. Disney has also said the attraction’s Indiana Jones Audio Animatronic figure will be modeled on Harrison Ford.
Tropical Americas will include a smaller family offering too. El Carrusel de los Animalitos is a carousel with 22 hand carved animals inspired by Disney and Pixar stories, presented as a community gathering place inside Pueblo Esperanza.
Who it affects, and when it takes effect
Disney’s Hollywood Studios is also in for a major shift. Monstropolis, based on Monsters, Inc., will begin opening in phases in 2027. While the suspended door vault coaster remains in progress, other parts of the land are expected to start welcoming guests. That includes the Glob Theater, home to a live show called Welcome to Monstropolis hosted by Mike and Sulley, plus Harryhausen’s Restaurant, Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza and a merchandise location called The Scareporium.
At Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress is expected to return in late spring 2027 after closing in July 2026 for a major update. The attraction will keep its familiar look at technological progress, but its show scenes are being revised. Disney has already revealed that Walt Disney will appear as an Audio Animatronic in a new opening scene, and the updated version will move through the 1960s and 1980s before New Year’s Eve 1999 and a possible future.
The resort side changes too. Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge is set to open July 1, 2027 on Bay Lake with 967 rooms, including studios, villas and waterfront Lake Houses. Disney says the property will draw on Bambi, Pocahontas, Fantasia and Brother Bear. For guests, that means 2027 will bring new reasons to visit several parts of Walt Disney World, along with the possibility of heavier crowds around the biggest openings.
