Disney World’s latest app change brings detailed hotel room requests into My Disney Experience

Walt Disney World hotel guests now get more resort-specific room request options in My Disney Experience as of Oct. 21, 2026.

Walt Disney World has made a small app change that could reshape a familiar vacation-planning habit. Hotel guests are now seeing more detailed room request options in My Disney Experience, giving them a more direct way to flag where they would prefer to stay before arrival.

The update, identified on October 21, 2026, expands the room preference choices available through online check-in for Walt Disney World Resort hotels. Instead of relying only on broader request categories, guests may now see options that are more closely tailored to their specific resort.

That matters because many Disney visitors have long used extra planning steps to ask for a certain building, floor, quieter area, or a spot closer to transportation. Some travelers handled that by contacting Disney directly, while others turned to outside room research tools or fax-based request services built around detailed hotel location preferences.

The new setup does not mean those third-party methods are banned, and Disney has not said faxed requests have ended or that any outside service must stop operating. But by adding more resort-specific choices inside its own app, Disney is narrowing the gap that made those workarounds useful in the first place.

What guests can do now, and what has not changed

The practical effect depends on the reservation. Disney has not published a complete verified list of every new selection across all of its hotels, so guests need to open their own booking in My Disney Experience to see what appears.

Disney guidance already allows guests to submit available preferences during online check-in, and guests can still contact Disney Resort Hotel Reservations if the option they want is not listed digitally. Historically, requests have included things like floor, building location, and proximity to elevators or transportation.

What this still does not do is guarantee a specific room. Disney’s reservation terms say room location and similar requests remain subject to availability, with final assignment left to Disney.

The update also fits a broader pattern. My Disney Experience has steadily taken on more planning and hotel functions over time, including mobile check-in, digital room access, direct-to-room features for eligible guests, and, more recently, park reservation changes handled in the app. For guests who care about cutting long walks, staying near amenities, or avoiding areas affected by resort work, the newest change makes one more part of the trip easier to manage in Disney’s own system.
