Hollywood Studios quietly drops a Muppets photo gag, and the floor still gives it away

Disney's Hollywood Studios has removed the joke footprints from its Electric Mayhem mural photo spot near Rock Around the Shop.

A small Muppets touch has vanished from one of Disney's newest Hollywood Studios updates. Guests can still use the Electric Mayhem mural photo area, but the joke footprints that helped sell the bit are no longer there.

What changed at the Muppets mural

Disney's Hollywood Studios has removed four decorative sets of footprints from the Electric Mayhem photo spot near Rock Around the Shop.

The mural arrived as part of the park's 2026 Muppets changes, which followed the closure of Muppet*Vision 3D and gave the band a new home with Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets. That version of the attraction opened on May 26, 2026, replacing the former Aerosmith theme with a Muppets music driven story. A nearby merchandise location, Rock Around the Shop, also opened with Muppets themed products.

The missing footprints were not standard pose markers. Two pointed the usual way for a picture and labeled guests as the band's "fan club president" and "lead singer." The other two turned away from the mural, carrying the messages "Why are you looking this way?" and "Wrong way, buddy!" The setup turned a simple photo stop into a visual joke that matched the Muppets' style.

Guests visiting the area now will find those floor elements gone.

Who it affects and what remains

The change mainly affects visitors using the Electric Mayhem mural near the shop, especially anyone who remembered the original layout or wanted the extra gag built into the floor.

The mural itself is still in place. It continues to show the band gathered around a large orange lightning bolt, with colorful musical notes, stars, and hearts worked into the design. Paint cans and splattered equipment cases also remain, along with a "WET PAINT do not touch" message near the bottom.

What stands out now is the surface where the footprints used to be. Scuffs and darker marks are still visible on the wooden flooring, making the removal easy to spot.

Disney has not said why the footprints were taken out, and there has been no announcement about replacements or another update for the space. The removal does not affect Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets or the merchandise location. For now, the photo opportunity is still available, just without one of its original punchlines.
