A Bob Chapek book detail just opened a rare window into Disneyland ticket sales

New math tied to Bob Chapek’s memoir estimates Disneyland Resort brings in about $3.6 billion a year from tickets alone.

A single number in Bob Chapek’s new memoir has led to an unusually detailed estimate of how much Disneyland Resort makes from admissions. Using current pass and ticket prices, plus outside attendance data, the calculation puts annual ticket sales at about $3.6 billion.

How the estimate comes together

In Behind the Castle Walls: My Thirty Years at the Happiest Place on Earth, the former Disney CEO says Disneyland Resort has "somewhere around" 1.1 million Magic Key holders.

That figure was combined with other public data points to build the estimate. The parks drew about 27.4 million visitors in 2024, according to the Themed Entertainment Association. UBS financial analysts estimate Magic Key holders account for roughly half of Disneyland Resort attendance.

Using this year’s average Magic Key price of $1,243 and an average one park daily ticket price of $162, the Orange County Register calculated that Magic Key sales generate about $1.4 billion a year. Daily ticket buyers account for another $2.2 billion, bringing the total to an estimated $3.6 billion in annual admissions revenue.

Why Disney fans do not usually see numbers this specific

The estimate does not represent all guest spending at Disneyland Resort. It covers ticket sales only, not parking, food, merchandise, hotels, or other add-ons.

That is part of what makes the figure notable for park fans and industry watchers. Disney typically reports revenue and operating income for its Disney Experiences division as a whole, rather than breaking out detailed ticket and attendance figures for Disneyland Resort by itself.

The new estimate is based on current pricing and 2024 attendance data, so it offers a snapshot of what Disneyland admissions may be bringing in now, rather than a new policy or price change for guests.
