An Online Community Rallies Behind A Lady Who Was Called "Fat" By Her Boyfriend For Eating At His Family’s Christmas Dinner
No matter how prepared you are for your partner's family Christmas dinner, there will always be something for which you are unprepared.
The Christmas family dinner is filled with all types of scents in the air, from cookies to the warmth of the chimney, along with many dishes prepared to stuff you like a Thanksgiving turkey. What could possibly go wrong on such occasions?
Reddit user TheOA12345 shares her story, which is loaded with unexpected developments. Everything appeared to be going well during her first Christmas dinner with her partner’s parents until it abruptly took a turn for the worse.
The author was raised to eat as much as her stomach could hold in order not to disrespect the host, so she filled her plate and had another when prompted by the host. How could she deny herself some coffee and a slice of cheesecake as well, right?
Receiving a strange look from her partner during dinner, which she dismissed, followed by being yelled at and called fat for lacking manners, was far from how the author imagined this wonderful night would end. Much to her dismay, however, Arabian dining manners are quite different from what one might be used to, as going to a guest's home on an empty stomach is considered disrespectful in Arab culture.
She didn’t know that—at least, the author of the story didn’t—and she wasn’t cautioned about any of this. Afterwards, she was blamed for her lack of "common knowledge."

After a couple of quick messages, she finally uncovered his lies, as the tables had turned and it turned out that the entire fiasco was a misunderstanding. He did not refer to her as "fat," but rather as "greedy" (as if that’s any consolation), and her partner used that as a cover-up.
It turns out that his parents were facing some financial issues, and he simply did not want to share the burden of their tough situation, especially before their first Christmas dinner together.
