Being a tourist, however much fun, is also a responsibility. Part of planning your trip is researching and learning about the place you are about to visit.

Knowing a little bit about their customs, traditions, and history will help you navigate the beautiful locale. You don't have to be an expert on everything in the area — that's what exploring is for — but it can't hurt to know what is acceptable behavior and what is a definite no-no.

Ignoring their customs will earn you a raised eyebrow from the locals. If you go so far as to ignore their laws, you might even find yourself getting fined or spending three days and two nights in jail instead of a cozy hotel.

Don't be like one of those entitled tourists we read about online who, instead of being on their best behavior, decide to use their visitor status as an all-access pass to do whatever they please. Remember to be on your best behavior when traveling to foreign places. That is a cardinal rule that will make your trip go a lot smoother and definitely more pleasant.

The locals of the area will be more polite to you, and you will at least receive good service. There is nothing to be gained from being a rude and ignorant visitor other than ending up on a list like this.
