Cooking takes more than just following a recipe. There is a technique and an inherent skill that need to be learned, developed, and nurtured in order to create a dish that looks and tastes good.
This includes things like baking and cake decorating. It seems simple enough: add whatever ingredients are listed, apply heat, and it should be done.
However, there is a lot more that goes into cooking and baking than just "add ingredients" and call it a day. There's a science to it; there's math involved.
There is a reason there are master chefs and bakers in the world, and why we go out to eat or order cakes for celebrations. It's a lot of work, and many of us aren't up to the task, no matter how much we want to be deep down in our hearts.
Of course, that doesn't stop amateur cooks and bakers from attempting new dishes. That's how anyone gets better at something they enjoy doing: by doing it over and over.
We learn by doing. Even if the first half a dozen attempts turn out terrible, we are learning in the process.
