Girlfriend Gives Up Teaching Boyfriend How To Do Chores After Multiple Tries
Maybe it's just not meant to happen for him.
Some people treat chores like optional extras, until they have to live with someone who expects them to help. That is exactly where this boyfriend and girlfriend ended up, after he moved in and tried to learn the basics of household work.
Redditor notmymainobvii said she kept teaching him how to do chores, but after multiple attempts, she got frustrated with the process. What started as a simple effort to help turned into a bigger issue about effort, responsibility, and whether he actually wanted to learn at all.
Now the relationship is stuck on a very ordinary problem that somehow feels much bigger than it should. Read on.

A lot of Redditors have agreed that OP is definitely not the jerk in this situation. Her boyfriend could definitely do better if he wanted to.

Google made life easier in a lot of ways, but it also did this sadly

It doesn't even seem like he has been in the oven yet. He's just dough at this point.

Living on his own is a great idea since it would force him to not just learn but actually do the chores himself.

What's coming out of his mouth and his real intentions might be very different.

So what if you get weirdly shaped chunks instead of cubes? At least it's still cut if he at least tried.

Oh, it's not just sexual attraction that we'll be losing for a guy like that.

We'd love to see the look on his face when she says this to him.

He's 23. Of course, he'd be capable of learning and doing because he's a grown adult.

It's like he just started out willing, all so he can get the ultimate excuse of just not being good at it.

People doing chores are everywhere - at home, on TV, in the streets. It's impossible not to figure it out.

If he acts any more stupidly, he might just lose her, and he kind of deserves it.

Helping each other doesn't mean raising a child that you did not want.

Best response to his lines: You just need more practice.

He should have reflected on himself before he even thought of moving in with her.

Does he not know about the existence of the internet and all its step-by-step wonders?

Once you get used to doing it for them, they already assume they've won.

They're life skills that are important to learn for everybody, not just the female species.

They failed at preparing their son for the real world.

If he really was intent on learning, he would have already learned a thing or two.

It's part of a parent's responsibility to make sure that their children can fend for themselves.

Sadly, there is no lie in this.

Sadly, from OP's story, it's obvious that her boyfriend just really doesn't want to do the chores. If someone is truly intent on doing something, they would keep trying until they've learned how to do it.
Plus, it's chores. You can't just say you're no good at it because even if it's not done well, at least something is done, right?
Hopefully, he gets his act together and starts working soon for the sake of their relationship.
