Teen Gets Sister Expelled From School And Parents Think He Betrayed Her
It was her actions, and the consequences were hers to face.
Just because you come from the same mother and father does not mean that you will have the same personalities and behaviors as your siblings. Even if they raised you in the same way with the same values, it still doesn't guarantee that you'll turn out to be similar people.
From the beginning, siblings are just different people with different perspectives and different wants in life. These differences often cause siblings to fight, and some even develop lifelong rivalries.
We can also say that how parents treat their children affects how their relationships develop as well. For instance, some parents let one child get away with everything and hold them accountable for very little while being a bit stricter with the other child.
Other parents, on the other hand, operate with a much more subtle degree of favoritism, but we all know it's there. That seems to be the case with this one Redditor who posted in the AmITheAsshole community.
Redditor circagym262 explained that he got his sister expelled from school for completely valid reasons, and while their grandpa is on his side, his parents aren't and think he betrayed his sister.

It's certainly a tough family situation; however, a lot of people in the comments also think that they did the right thing. Many believe that he was right to hold her accountable, even though she's family, and that she received a heavy punishment.
Here are some of the top comments.
His sister needed to learn a lesson, and she wasn't going to learn that by being coddled by their parents.

If she had been taught how to act properly and how to face the consequences of her actions, then maybe she wouldn't be that way.
Iocabus
Their parents should also acknowledge that their little girl has done something truly wrong.

We need more people like him who would hold even the closest individuals accountable.
cokeycane
What they did actually took a lot of guts for kids their age.
confused-mammal
Not every kid out there would do what they did.

They definitely saved that boy's life and his teenage years, or at least made them easier.
hiswhatyouaimfor
They should be proud of themselves for standing up for others like that.

It doesn't make sense for the parents to be mad at him because it gave them a chance to correct their daughter's behavior.

It really makes you wonder what went wrong with the other child.
rak1882
It was all on her, and she should face the consequences of it.

Hopefully, she changes for the better.

If the wrongness of her actions isn't made clear now, she'll be facing much harsher consequences in the future.

They were brave to have stuck to what they believe is right.

That is the real world for bullies, honey, and not the real world that should be.
circagym262
At least she got a taste of what the real world really is.
zerozerozero12
In the real world, when she becomes an adult, she won't have mommy and daddy to run to.

We need more kids to be like OP and his friends.

Faith in humanity and future generations restored!

His parents should be proud they have such a great kid like this.

OP and his friends were definitely great kids. They not only stopped the bullying of that one guy, but they also gave him a safe space to be himself and express himself.
They became his friends and accepted him as he is. They didn't try to change him into another hetero man; they jived with him.
It's great that he also stood up to his own family when he knew something wrong was being done. We need more kids and more people to be like him nowadays.
