Woman Refused To Purchase An 80-Item List For Her Ungrateful Neighbor, Who Is Always Demanding Things From Her

However hard you may try, you can never tell what sort of neighbor you'll end up living next to.

Well, apparently, we now have a type of neighbor who will take every opportunity given to exploit your friendly generosity and make you bear their grocery list without remorse. Is that convenient for them? Indeed, but is that a completely shameless move? Absolutely!

The Reddit user u/Tiny-Charity shares her story, saying she's a single working mother who lives in a rented property close to a married couple. According to the story, her neighbor’s husband earns $60,000 a year while she earns $18,000 a year.

Well, everything appeared to be going fine before the stay-at-home wife, who also receives the mail for the two houses, started being a thorn in the author’s side. This neighbor sent the author of this story her shopping list just prior to Thanksgiving, asking for various items she had run out of.

Feeling happy and appreciative, the mother agreed to assist her last-minute neighbor with certain items that she had. After all, it's Thanksgiving, and it would make for a sweet, friendly story, notwithstanding the fact that this kept happening consistently.

To make matters worse, this neighbor only thanked her but never offered to pay for or replace the items. From a 20-to-30-item list, this stay-at-home neighbor skyrocketed the list to 80, with practically no offer to pay for the items she listed. Viki Mohamad (not the actual photo)

The author said she couldn’t pull through for her only to have her phone beep with another list of things that she needed. This neighbor actually banged on the author’s door and confronted her face-to-face, calling the author a jerk.

All this for not being able to render help to your 401(k) neighbors when you're receiving SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program). Yes, the neighbor has been "accidentally" going through her mail (you can imagine the breach of privacy).

If there's one general truth that is acknowledged by all, it is that you can never tell what sort of neighbor you'll end up living next to. To twist things around a little, your neighbors can't tell what type of neighbor you’ll be to them; only time will tell.

The fact remains that when you have good neighbors, you’ll enjoy your stay in that neighborhood; when they just want to leech off of you, it’s a different ball game altogether. Here's what other redditors had to say:

It is vital to create boundaries and respect each other’s privacy, especially if you’re living in close proximity to others. It sounds pleasant, but when you're maneuvered into feeling like an inferior neighbor for something you were somewhat forced into, that is precarious.

And that is what the mighty "Am I an A**hole" subreddit is here to tackle.
