Redditors React As Man Shares While He Returned The PC His Lazy Dad Bought Him

“Come with us or i’m taking the computer.”

Some parents think kids should adhere to a rigid set of guidelines. When children don't live up to their strict standards, they punish them severely.

In their homes, respect and obedience usually take precedence over traits like creativity and individuality. Many parents wish to exert control over their children.

That makes sense, but there are a few issues with that strategy: it won't work, and it's not what's good for our kids or us! As parents, we should take the initiative to teach our children how to live responsibly.

This entails educating kids to be obedient, respectful, and live up to their responsibilities, amongst other things. This wasn't so for the OP of today's story.

From his story, it's clear that the OP is just tired of being controlled. OP says his whole life has been about doing what his dad says or he'll get stuff taken, or he’ll threaten to punch him.

OP's relationship with the father was never good, and OP has never seen him as anything much more than a dictator. They went to the electronics store to get the OP a PC for Christmas because, for years, OP has told his dad he wanted one.

But the OP's dad is known for taking things from him for the smallest reasons, and that's where this story hangs in the balance.

OP has offered the following explanation for why they think they might be the AH:

I gave my dad the PC he got me back and told him to return it

The OP revealed more in his edits saying...

My dad isn’t using it as a way to force me to get a job. he’s using it for little things. i didn’t want to bring something outside mid day when he knows about my phobia and has seen me go into multiple panic attacks because of it and because it’s his stuff he wants me to move just because he doesn’t want to leave his chair

OP also said that his dad is unemployed and sits in his recliner all day on his computer. He has his gf do everything for him, from bringing him food because he’s too lazy to get up, to chores, because he doesn’t do anything around the house besides occasionally help OP fold towels, which he does from his chair, then makes him put them away.

Of course, the OP was declared not the AH, and that's a wrap.
