Disney Destiny’s New Halloween Mystery: Meet Solara, the Exclusive Enchanted Pumpkin Tree

Disney Cruise Line is adding Solara, an exclusive enchanted pumpkin tree, to Halloween on the High Seas aboard Disney Destiny.

Disney Cruise Line has unveiled a new Halloween character for Disney Destiny, and it is not a ghost, villain, or masked party guest. Solara, the newest Enchanted Pumpkin Tree in the fleet, will appear only on Disney Destiny during Halloween on the High Seas sailings.

A ship-specific Halloween addition for Disney Destiny guests

The change is aimed at passengers booked on select 3-, 4-, and 5-night Halloween on the High Seas voyages aboard Disney Destiny from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Alongside offerings such as trick-or-treating and Mickey’s Mouse-Querade Party, those sailings will now feature Solara as an exclusive character created for the ship.

Solara joins Disney Cruise Line’s growing lineup of Enchanted Pumpkin Trees. Her sisters already appear elsewhere in the fleet: Boo on the Disney Wish and Ginger on the Disney Treasure. For Disney Destiny, the creative team built a version tied to the ship’s larger heroes-and-villains theme, while also leaning into Halloween’s split personality. The concept explores the idea that guests may want their celebration to feel spooky, playful, or somewhere in between.

Her design reflects that balance. Solara is decorated with glowing gourds and dew-like detailing, and her name comes from “Sol,” the Latin word for sun. She includes 26 pumpkins in total, plus 31 ember jewels. Her arms display two groups of 13 carved pumpkins, representing the two sides of Halloween, Delight and Fright.

When she appears and how the onboard experience works

Guests will first encounter Solara in the Grand Hall on the evening of embarkation day during an original show called “The Tale of the Enchanted Pumpkin Tree.” The story places her in the world of Zayah and Gamble, the Destiny-Seekers, two storytellers who have uncovered tales of magical trees from around the world.

In the show, the pair weigh their own Halloween preferences. Gamble favors the sillier side, while Zayah leans toward the more mysterious one. As they introduce Solara’s legend, guests are asked to choose Delight or Fright and join a chant connected to their side. The character’s role is to bring those opposing moods together as part of the same celebration.

The sequence ends with orange and green confetti pumpkins showering the crowd. After Solara has been awakened in the show, guests can return to take photos with her for the rest of the voyage. Disney also said the production team experimented with lighting effects for the character and with moving sound across the Grand Hall’s three decks, tying Solara’s debut into the space itself.
