According to one of her former agents, she receives every script from shows in the business. He also adds that if there are only ten people who could guarantee a movie's success, she'd undoubtedly be included as the only woman on that list.
Even thirty years after her initial success, it is undeniable that she remains one of the most famous Hollywood celebrities in the world. She became a showstopper with her surprise appearance at the Oscars in 2019, where she presented the Academy Award for Best Picture.
This came after she played a caseworker in the TV series Homecoming and the mother of the titular character in the drama film Ben Is Back. It was a romantic comedy that skyrocketed her career.
So, you can't help but wonder why she hasn't been starring in films in this genre. She has an upcoming movie, Ticket to Paradise, where she reunites with George Clooney.

People sometimes misconstrue the amount of time that’s gone by since I haven’t done a romantic comedy as my not wanting to do one.
According to the renowned actress, she wanted to do something at the level of the madcap fun found in Notting Hill or My Best Friend’s Wedding.
She's had kids for the last 18 years, which raises the bar higher.

For Roberts, it's not just about the material being good.
As they get older, particularly with my daughter, I feel a sense of responsibility to show my children that I can be creative and that it’s meaningful to me — so meaningful that for periods of time, I will choose to focus on that almost more than my family, which has been hard for me to come to terms with.
