Lila Moss Wore Her Insulin Pump On The Red Carpet At The Met Gala, And It Couldn't Be More Refreshing
The life-saving device was perhaps the most important fashion accessory of the evening.
Lila Moss made one of the most talked-about Met Gala appearances of the night, and it was not just because of the dress. The 19-year-old model walked the 2022 red carpet with her mother, Kate Moss, while wearing her insulin pump openly under a sheer Burberry look.
As a type 1 diabetic, Lila has been visible about the device before, but seeing it on one of fashion's biggest stages felt especially striking. The moment stood out because it turned a medical necessity into part of the outfit, without hiding a thing.
That choice made the red carpet feel a little more real, and a lot more memorable. Read on.

This was not her first time making the device part of the look.
This isn't the first time Lila has worn her pump visibly to a high-fashion event. In September 2021, the model walked in the Versace show with the device attached to her leg.

Lila also opened up about growing up with Kate Moss, and the story quickly turned personal.
Lila recently told British Vogue what it was like growing up with an extremely famous mother. The teenager said she started noticing her mother's fame when she was around eight years old.
"That was when I realized the paparazzi thing, that they were interested in her for some reason," Lila recalled. "Then I went to secondary school, and everyone was like, 'Oh, your mum's Kate Moss!'"
Lila laughed as she said her response would be, "'How do you know who she is? She's old! She's old and boring!'"
But all jokes aside, Lila says that she has always been "quite protective of her mom." She mentioned a paparazzi photo taken when she was a child, where she seemed to be scowling. "All my mum's friends say that I was so scary as a child," she said. "I was quite serious, but also, I would always copy her."
"She would always have her head down and not look at the camera, so I'd always put my head down and not look at the camera," Lila explained. "I still do it."
The Met Gala moment only made her even more memorable.
