The shift comes from the way Endgame Encore reframes an earlier Spider-Man tease. In the post-credits scene of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Ned’s Spidey Tracker detected Spider-Man in space, which kicked off speculation that the signal might not be Tom Holland’s Peter Parker at all. Because Maguire returned in Spider-Man: No Way Home, some fans started to read that moment as a setup for his version of Spider-Man entering Avengers: Doomsday.
Endgame Encore introduced a clue that points elsewhere. In its mid-credits scene, Doctor Doom takes Bruce Banner, and the technology around Banner starts glitching. Those glitches appear to match the ones seen on the Spidey Tracker in Brand New Day. If the two scenes are connected, the implication is that Peter was taken by Doom too, which would explain why the tracker picked him up in space.
