Spider-Man’s Black Suit Poster Also Solved the Disney+ Season 2 Mystery

Marvel set Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 for Disney+ on Jan. 13, 2027, and a new poster teases Peter Parker’s black suit.

Marvel used a new look at Peter Parker’s black suit to answer a bigger Disney+ question: when Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is finally coming back. Season 2 now has a firm premiere date, pushing the animated series beyond its earlier winter 2026 target.

The return date is now official

At New York Comic-Con, Marvel Television confirmed that Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 will begin streaming on Disney+ on Jan. 13, 2027. That is a shift from the winter 2026 timing previously attached to the season.

Brad Winderbaum, who oversees Marvel Television and Animation, had said the release was moved to give the series a better place to live and breathe. For Disney+ viewers, the practical change is simple: the next season will now open Marvel Studios’ 2027 slate instead of arriving in 2026.

The date also places the series shortly after Avengers: Doomsday. Marvel’s 2027 schedule currently has no new films before Avengers: Secret Wars on Dec. 17, 2027, which gives this animated return added weight for fans waiting on the next Marvel release.

What the new poster hints at for Peter Parker

Alongside the date, Marvel unveiled a new poster showing Spider-Man in the black symbiote suit. Season 1 already had Peter facing a symbiote creature, and the new image points toward the black suit and Venom material from the comics playing a larger role in Season 2.

The next run is also set to add Eddie Brock, voiced by Josh Keaton, who previously played Peter Parker in The Spectacular Spider-Man. Gwen Stacy, also known as Ghost Spider, is expected to join the series, and Charlie Cox is set to return as Daredevil.

The show first premiered on Disney+ on Jan. 29, 2025. It began as a prequel idea tied to the period before Captain America: Civil War, then shifted into an alternate-universe story in the mold of What If...?, similar to but separate from the MCU. Its first season earned a 97 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes and left several threads open, including the World Engineering Brigade, Nico Minoru’s emerging magical powers, and the reveal that Richard Parker is alive and in prison.
