Marvel’s next Wolverine problem is already here, and it starts with four clawed copies
Uncanny X-Men #37 officially introduces four Wolverine clones linked to Sarah Gaunt. The issue arrives October 21 from Marvel Comics.
Marvel has moved a teased Wolverine storyline forward sooner than expected. In Uncanny X-Men #37, the publisher officially introduces four cloned Weapon X recreations of Logan, setting up a new threat aimed directly at Wolverine and the surviving X-Men.
The change for readers is simple: the clone concept teased for Uncanny X-Men #38 is no longer just a preview hook. Uncanny X-Men #37 is the issue that first puts the four clawed test subjects on the page, tying them to Greymalkin Prison and to Sarah Gaunt, the resurrected sorceress also known in the mutant underground as the Hag.
Preview material for the issue shows a group of agents entering Greymalkin and failing to reach the center of the former prison before Gaunt attacks them. She then returns to the hidden lab where Wolverine’s clones are being held. Gaunt refers to the four creations as her children. At this stage, they are shown in stasis and fastened to a wall inside the facility.

Why these clones matter in the X-Men line
The setup gives Wolverine a new version of an old problem. Logan has long been presented as the most formidable figure among feral mutants and Weapons Plus subjects, not only because of his durability and combat skill, but also because he chose heroism over the brutality that defines many characters with similar origins. That history makes threats built from his own template especially significant.
Gaunt appears to have a deeply warped bond with the clones. Her connection may be rooted in the loss of her real son, Brian, who died at age nine during a catastrophic hurricane before she became a monstrous gray-skinned witch. The issue positions that grief alongside her control of Greymalkin’s secret projects, and her apparent goal is to unleash the clones against Wolverine and the remaining X-Men in a direct claw-against-claw conflict.

When it takes effect
For Marvel readers, this development takes effect with the release of Uncanny X-Men #37 on October 21.
The larger question is whether these four figures are a one-story obstacle or the start of a lasting addition to Wolverine’s rogues gallery. The current Marvel line already includes Laura Kinney, also known as X-23, and several of her genetic sisters, many of whom survived their programming and became heroes. What it does not yet firmly have is a recurring evil Wolverine duplicate built to challenge Logan as a dark reflection of his own violent potential. Uncanny X-Men #37 is where that possibility officially begins.
