TikToker Exposes Message Hack For You To Use When You Want Someone To Check Your Text ASAP
Try at your own risk.
Texting can get awkward fast when someone sees your message and still does not reply. One TikTok creator thinks he has a clever way to get around that, and it starts with the first few characters of a text.
Daniel Hentschel, who has built a large following on TikTok, shared a message trick aimed at people who use read receipts. The idea is simple enough, but the execution is a little sneaky, since the real point of the text is hidden after an attention-grabbing opener.
That is what has people talking, because the method is part joke, part strategy, and very much built for the age of message previews.
He posts a TikTok about “Outsmarting Someone with Read Receipts.”
TikTok | @danhentschel“When someone has read receipts on, they will intentionally not open your message until they feel like responding,” Daniel says. People usually understand the whole message without opening the conversation—the first 80-85 characters can be seen on the lock screen or the notification bar.
TikTok | @danhentschelIf your goal is for the other person to read your message as soon as possible, he advises viewers to craft an urgent-sounding message within the first 80-85 characters. This is to bait them into opening the message.

That is where the trick gets a little dramatic.
The screenshot below is from his TikTok video where he shows this example: “I’m in the hospital. In so much pain. I have no idea how, but the doctor told me I bro—…” This makes the recipient feel like they need to open the video instantly.

After the 80-85-character clickbait message is the actual message. The whole message reads: “I’m in the hospital. In so much pain. I have no idea how, but the doctor told me I broke my back from carrying this relationship. What is holding you back from communicating with me?”

If read out of context, the whole message sounds worrying. The real text, if you did not catch it, states: “What is holding you back from communicating with me?”

This type of message is labeled as a Trojan Horse texting model. The first impression of the message due to the read receipt shows an alarming statement, when actually, the real message is hidden in the second half of the chat.

People on TikTok had plenty to say about the whole thing.
It’s the same kind of pressure as a WIBTA dilemma over confronting a ghosting friend.
People on TikTok shared their sentiments towards the topic and Daniel’s problem-solving video. Here are a few responses:
Just let them be. It doesn’t matter if people don’t text you back.

You have to understand that not everyone can socialize all the time. People need breaks to recharge their social batteries regularly.

Kind of like chess? Daniel’s tip is basically a strategy game of sorts.

It can be nice to let people know that you’re ignoring them. This boldness can build confidence.

YouTube has clickbait. It seems like it’s translating well to texts?

If you know people are intentionally not opening messages, doesn’t that mean they are avoiding all contact with the message previews?

An actual emotional experience could have been received, but the receiver might think that the drama is just for show. Where do we draw the line?

People’s anxiety over texting is real. Is this really a solution that will positively affect them?

This individual is honest and blunt about their answer, but it makes sense. It’s a fair trade—no read receipts, no secretly reading the messages.

Texting is honestly more stressful now than before since any small action, like not replying on time or reading a message and not responding at all, can make a person overthink. The use of technology as a means of communication has definitely affected the dynamics of person-to-person communication.
