Disney’s Halloween Branding Keeps Shifting. Here’s When Monstober Began and What Disney Is Calling 2026

Disney Channel’s Monstober traces back to 2012, but Disney+ is using Huluween on Disney+ in 2026 and no new Monstober rollout has surfaced.

Disney Channel’s October identity has not stayed fixed, and the same is true on Disney+. The clearest official trail shows Monstober starting in 2012, returning in 2024, and not appearing in Disney’s announced 2025 or 2026 October plans so far.

What changed for Disney’s Halloween branding

For viewers trying to find Disney’s Halloween programming in 2026, the biggest shift is the name. Disney+ is steering users to a "Huluween on Disney+ 2026 Watch Guide," continuing branding the service also used in 2025.

Disney Channel is a different story. Monstober is the best known October label tied to the channel, but no 2026 announcement using that name was identified. Disney’s 2025 October release also did not use Monstober, which leaves 2024 as the most recent confirmed official use.

How far back Monstober goes

The earliest official Disney use traced here is from 2012, when a press release for Girl vs. Monster said the movie would premiere during the Monstober programming event on Oct. 12. That same announcement also promoted a Monstober night of premieres hosted by the film’s cast and a Monstober movie marathon hosted by Olivia Holt.

By 2014, D23 was describing Monstober as an annual Disney Channel event. That year’s hosts were Raini Rodriguez and Calum Worthy from Austin & Ally. In 2016, Monstober began Oct. 1 and included The Swap and a Halloween episode of Descendants: Wicked World.

The name later disappeared. Disney’s 2020 Halloween release did not give Disney Channel’s lineup an overall event title. In 2022, the channel’s Halloween run was branded Calling All The Monsters, scheduled from Sept. 25 through Oct. 31, with Under Wraps 2 among the featured premieres.

Who it affects and what to watch this year

This matters most to Disney Channel and Disney+ fans who follow seasonal programming by banner name, especially those looking for a familiar Monstober hub. In 2024, Disney described Monstober as a destination across both linear TV and YouTube, tied to a Kiff Halloween special, Wickedly Sweet: A Descendants Short Story, and the premiere of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place.

In 2026, the new Halloween content is still arriving even without a newly confirmed Monstober push. Vampirina: Teenage Vampire season 2 premiered on Disney Channel on Oct. 6, with the full season reaching Disney+ the next day. Disney+ also added Halloween specials from Big City Greens, Kiff and Phineas and Ferb on Oct. 7.

On the streaming side, Disney+ has also cycled through several names in recent years: Hallowstream in 2021 and 2022, Halloween on Disney+ in 2024, and Huluween on Disney+ in 2025 and 2026.
