'Morbius' Memes Tearing The Movie To Shreds After Failing For The Second Time In A Row
If you're unfamiliar with everything that went down regarding Morbius, you're in for a treat.
Morbius has become one of the internet's favorite punching bags, and the jokes have only gotten louder since Sony tried to bring it back for another round. The Jared Leto superhero movie was already a meme magnet, but its rerelease gave people fresh material after it pulled in just $85,000 on Friday, with theaters averaging about $82 each.
That kind of flop was never going to go unnoticed online. Instead of fading away, Morbius turned into a running joke about bad movies, bad timing, and a studio that seemed determined to keep the conversation going.
Now the memes are doing what the box office could not, keeping Morbius alive for all the wrong reasons.
1. I bet they never expected to fail THIS hard.
They made that $85,000 just from the memes.
ShadowTodd2. They should have just taken the L and moved on.
Some people probably got fired over this.
CultureCrave3. They enjoyed the memes so much that they gave people additional reasons to make more.
That was not what the memes were about.

The joke really did write itself.
4. An unending cycle that will never end.
How ironic that they didn't get the irony.

5. Apparently, Jared Leto is well aware of the memes.
6. People are not comfortable with the idea that he knows.

That only made the whole thing funnier.
It’s the same kind of public meltdown as Hollywood stars who begged the earth to swallow them whole after accidental cringe moments.
7. That's all the quality you need. 140p is more than enough.

8. They missed the point entirely.
With 25 episodes per season, running it for 10 entire seasons.

9. If they release it enough times, people will eventually like it.
Welcome to hell.

At this point, the memes have become part of the release strategy.
10. It might happen at any time; we should constantly be ready.
What a time to be alive!

11. That's how they made that figure. It was one person (you know who).
They should have bought at least a couple of tickets.

I'm almost convinced that they re-released the movie just for the memes.
There was nothing they could do about the monetary loss, but they could at least inspire some more hilarious memes with a second release. A monthly re-release is the only way to go, to be honest.
If they released it a second time, they might do it again, and we are not ready to deal with that yet. More people would go to the third release just to goof around and capture some meme-worthy moments.
It would probably fail again, but that's what it's all about.
And somehow, that feels like the most Morbius outcome possible.
After “Oscars silence” got torn apart online, see how every joke and slip-up became instant proof the internet judges harder than the Academy.
