When we do receive more than we asked for in the best way, it feels like a miracle. It also helps us believe that our luck hasn't fully abandoned us yet, despite all the things we've done in our lives to sabotage it.
We think it's because the world has become obsessed with only giving us the exact worth of our money or efforts, or even less. While that's not necessarily a bad thing, it would be nice to receive a little extra now and then.
